About Me

DJ Baby Manny was born in India, but it was when he moved to London in his early teens that his musical tastes first developed amid the flourishing Punk scene. Leaving London for the States at 14, Manny's love for all things alternative grew as he discovered Nu-Wave and Industrial. In 1987, Manny found the Cafe, a cutting-edge club in his CT hometown, where DJs Moby and "Dave the Wave" Dresden became his friends and inspirations, playing Nu-Wave and Industrial and experimenting with the beginnings of House and Trance. True to his independent spirit, it was on his own that Manny learned the craft, using creativity and talent and teaching himself to beat match through experiment. In 1992, DJ Baby Manny first played at the Cafe and continued there as a regular while also spinning at the Ivy and Willow Street, other new breeding grounds for alternative sound, where he added Trance and House to his Nu-Wave and Industrial repertoire. As Underground parties began to emerge in the early 1990s, Manny continued to broaden his scope with cutting-edge House, Progressive Trance and Hard Trance, spinning at many events including Chapter One, Empire Strikes Back, and One Green Frog with DJs Mark farina, Mr. Kleen, Kosheen, Dj Dread, and Scotty Marz. As the popularity of the Underground party scene faded and clubs re-emerged, Manny's first big gig was at the Art Bar, in the new and burgeoning downtown Stamford scene, where again, Manny with the help of "Dave the Wave" brought House and Trance into the clubs. From that time forward, DJ Baby Manny has remained at the forefront of alternative music, regularly appearing at popular spots throughout New York and Connecticut; he's been resident DJ at Art Bar and Ego and has moonlighted at various clubs including Crush, Roxy, Manhattans W Hotel, and VooDoo Martini Lounge, as well as Private events sponsored by various Record Labels and Fashion shows. DJ Baby Manny is currently a regular at Dragonfly, Crush, Teddy's Nightclub, and Twenty. where he continues to experiment with House and Trance. He also is a guest DJ at QXT's in New Jersey, where he is able to revisit his Nu-Wave and Industrial roots. Manny's particular talent lies in his ability to stay true to his cutting-edge sensibility but always with an ear for his audience, playing what he wants and making the crowd realize that that's what they wanted to hear-even if they didn't know it when they walked through the door............
