The world through my lens....

About Me

I have this horrible tendency to look at the world more through my camera than with my eyes... it's often more tolerable that way.
I'm a professional freelance photographer / videographer / writer based in the midwest but wind up working all over the map... literally. I go where the work is. I shoot a wide variety of subject matter... commercial, editorial, sports, fashion & glamour, photojournalism and art. I believe there is a special place in hell for people who throw trash out car windows and dump trash in natural areas. I despise you because your actions detract from the wonder and beauty of nature, one of my favorite things to shoot.
I also shoot quite a bit of professional boxing which is one of the things I enjoy the most.
I am very much a "people person" and the best thing about my work are the awesome and incredible people I get to meet along the way. How about spending a Superbowl Sunday with a mix of people like rabid Eagles fans, a writer for ESPN, two reality "stars" and some Amish guys? Yes... that's all part of my life. Anything else you want to know... just ask.
Since so many seem to ask my weapons of choice are... Film: Nikon 35mm SLRs, mostly F4s's and F3's, Nikkor glass - all older AIs models for the most part. Hasselblad 501C/M's and Zeiss optics. Digital: Canon DSLR bodies, Canon "L" glass, Oly E10.
I am worth $1,987,600 on HumanForSale.com

My Interests

People, photography, film, music, art, food, and travel would be the biggees.

I'd like to meet:

If I were to name names the list would be too long... but in general anyone who's interesting, has some sense of vision, unique ideas or thoughts, marches to a different drummer and is an individual or has some idea of their purpose on this planet. I like people who can appreciate the beauty and art in everyday life and in ordinary things. I'd also like to meet my birth mother... there are so many questions I have, and no animosity whatsoever. I sincerely thank her for allowing me to be raised with the opportunities I've had... even when I've managed to screw them all up.

Music:

My taste in music is eclectic... almost anything and everything from classical to popular to alternative to metal to jazz and almost everything in between. For what it's worth... I love shooting bands... both performances and photos for covers, liners, promotion, etc. (I'm reasonable, too! Hint! Hint!)

Movies:

Pulp Fiction, Get Shorty, Sling Blade, Pushing Tin, Goodfellas, Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead, Flield of Dreams, Slapshot, Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, Resevoir Dogs, Rounders, too many more to mention. Also Extreme videos... check out some of the films by Warren Miller or Pat Solomon... both pioneers in their respective disciplines. Good stuff!!

Television:

"It is difficult to produce a television documentary that is both incisive and probing when every twelve minutes one is interrupted by twelve dancing rabbits singing about toilet paper." ~Rod Serling Need I say much more? CNN, Frontline, a few HBO productions, things friends are in. Does anything I film count?? lol...

Books:

I wish I had more time to read for pleasure. When I do, I prefer non-fiction over fiction. Most of what I read generally deals with my work in some manner... mostly periodicals.

Heroes:

Only a few, but first and foremost my late father. Why is it that too often we don't learn things about someone until after they're gone?

My Blog

Jamie DID IT!!!

It's been a while since I've posted a blog here, and there are several reasons for that. Besides having my hands more than full, I'm getting pretty tired of the MySpace "technical errors." There are ...

Some people make my stomach turn...

A couple of weeks ago we had one of those great early spring days...     warm, sunny and breezy. The trees and flowers haven't started blooming yet, but none the less it was a great day. I ...

Jamie Part III

Jamie was fantastic in the pageant. She was the epitomy of beauty, grace and elegance...    and in my very biased but ever-so-humble opinion should have been scored higher than she was. Reg...

Thank you for pointing out that I'm rude.

As most of my friends know, I travel...    a lot. It goes with the territory of what I do. In a given year I spend roughly 200 nights in hotels and eating bad restaurant food (don't believe ...
