Calella Rock&Roll Holidays - The Story....or....How everything began with the Rock and Roll Holidays in Calella:I think everybody who was in beach holidays before (like Italy,Spain,Greece, etc) was dissapointed that later in the evening there was nothing for a rock and roll fan:Everywhere they are playing top 40 music, to say, popmusic.I wanted to change things like that , I had the idea to mix it up.To make a good mix of beach holidays and a rock and roll party.I always was organizing rock and roll parties in Germany , so it was new for me to start a party in Spain.So I start looking for a hotel at the east coast of spain.It wasn't easy,cause somwtimes our parties are loud and wild......many hotels said "no thanx".
Just one hotel said "Ok , let's have a try".It was the Hotel Continental in Calella.....and still we are welcome in this nice and special hotel.So we started in 1997 with less than 50 persons but with a hell of a party....the second year we had double people....the people spread the word.
At the same time there were some rock and roll festivals around Barcelona.I spoke to the organizers cause I had the idea to connect our rock and roll holidays with a local festival.First we had some doubts if it would be possible but finally we tried it....!So the promotors of the Screamin' festival placed their festival for
the first time at our date of the rock and roll holidays.The idea was very simple;everybody who was interested went with us to the festival...everybody who prefered to stay at the beach etc just stayed in Calella.We just had to rent an coach cause at this time the Screamin Festival was organized in Rubi (a small town near Barcelona).The festival was a succes and it was a good mix up with the spanish rockers and the international crowd of the rock and roll holidays.Cause of the succes we planed more "joint ventures" like this....In the year 2000 the rock and roll holidays were bigger than ever and the festival took place in Tordera (a small town between Calella and Girona).One more time we had to rent a coach to get from Calella to Tordera.The festival was another great succes and everybody had a good time.The only problem was that we always had to take a coach to the Screamin festival.We always had to wait for everybody just for getting back to Calella.So we made plans to move the festival totally to Calella.So nobody had to take a coach to join the party.Normally the festival was just one day,the saturday of the rock and roll holidays.But 2001 the festival was for the first time in "La Fabrica" in Calella.This hall was quite big and for the costs the festival promotors decided to make the festivals two day,friday and saturday.The party in Calella was growing year by year and we had a lot of work trying to please everybody.In the year 2007 for the first time there were some problems with the townhall "la Fabrica" and the goverment of Calella.As well there were many people who didn't liked that the festival in the big hall was held for 4 days now.The atmosphere in the hall wasn't perfect.Now the screamin' promotors decided to leave Calella to make their Screamin’ Festival in another town.For us this means that we go on with the rock and roll holidays in Calella.
2008 we will go back to our roots.we will organize more beach parties,more pool parties ,more hotel parties etc ,just like the people wants.....Have you ever seen the atmosphere in the Pebbles bar? If yes, you know what I mean…!!We wish the promotors of the Screamin' Festival good luck to find another location.We will stay in Calella and we will keep on with our rock and roll holidays.
Like always we will take care about a good mix of bands and DJ's.Our Rock and Roll Holidays are well known for having all the different styles of good rockin' music and everybody is welcome in Calella.Maybe that explains the succes of the ROCK AND ROLL HOLIDAYS IN CALELLA…!?!I would like to thank all the people who supported us during the last 11 years.*Stefan Pfeifer
