Born and raised O'ahu, Hawai'i. Began singing age 7; 'ukulele age 9; Hawaiian slack key guitar age 11; studied with living master of slack key Uncle Sonny Chillingworth age 13 under grant from the SFCA; first solo performance age 11; first professional gig age 12; first weekly bar gig at Pier Bar age 14; gigged 4 nights a week throughout high school; debut record "Makana" age 20; currently releasing 4th album; opened for hero Sting and other greats like Santana and Elvis Costello; performed with favorite living musician Andreas Vollenweider (Swiis multi-instrumentalist); toured worldwide; started own label Makana Music 2002; retained ownership of all recorded material; single, offspring: over 100 original compositions; awarded "Artist for Peace" by city council of Kaua'i 2005; also opened for artists as varied as No Doubt, Jason Mraz, Jack Johnson, Baaba Maal, and Michael Franti and Spearhead. Enjoys surfing, swimming, yoga, qi gong, hiking, sky diving, disc (frisbee) on the beach, serenading, and unlearning!
