About Me

wake me up till 2007
Bboy name:BBOY ASTRO (ASTRO ROC, A-ROC, ASTROBOY)
Real name: Timothy John "Astro" Ramos (Teejay)
How did you get your bboy name?ASTRO ROC- hence "astroboy"... i got my bboy name back in the beginning of 97' i gave it to my self when i was in the a crew called "Ground EFX/Toronto" it a good thing i got my name early before i joined supernatz or it would have been some thing really stupid ... a little of it cause some times i get spaced out. LOL
Year Born:1980
Birth place:TORONTO raised in SCARBOROUGH "THE BOROUGH" FUKAS!
Ethnicity/ Ancestry/ Nationality:im filipino/ canadian and PROUD!
Birth sign:VIRGO BABY! year of the monkey
Age:25 turning 26... old son!
Age started breaking/Bboying:I started hiphop dancing at the age of 13 a good era of hiphop dancing, at jams and school, parties, performances, then on in 96' when i was 16 i got in to bboying. the rest is history.
How did you get into breaking/Bboying?At an early age when i was even 5 in the 80s i was interested into breaking when i saw it at family parties and weddings, watching movies like "breaking" or "Flash dance" helped me wonder about what this dance was, so i would copy or try it with my older cousins at parties... In late 96' my brother introduced me in to bboying, watching a tape bboysummit 2/3, watching kenswift, flowmaster, easy roc, remind just doin it, running raw cyphers and battles inspiring me to start, i would copy and flow move per move to understand the dance cause back then there were no one teaching, it was was harder back then to get the source (no internet, no rec, either no classes). we had to learn it our selfes from scratch B. i also have to give credit also to "kidhype of unreal ethix" he inspired me the most when i started out and layed it out it was more about the dance.
What is your favorite part about Bboying and its culture? The music! all we are is a translation to the music.
"There comes a point where i'm no longer dancing to the music. I am the music in physical form." Bob the Balance (Circle of Fire)
i see every thing as a whole, THE HIPHOP CULTURE. NOT just bboying culture, thats just one element, with out every element, this dance wouldnt be as far as it is today. i love every aspect of the culture, im inspired by the people that gives me a dope vibe, everyone having a good time, the battles, the beef, cyphers, ill ryhmes and beats, writers... the whole, thats what i love about this culture. )
How do you explain your style (the way you move and groove)?"A brand new supernatural style" LOL! my style is a bit of every one from my crew from our threads, to the footwork and dance, i make it my "own"... i keep my style "toronto", n thats to keep it original! with a twist of "original bboying" old skool foundation, SON!
Strength in bboying: "the original bboy style"
Weakness: my stamina, i gotta quit smoking LOL
Why do you break the way you do (inspirations/ beliefs/ stories)?i break the way i do, just for the love,! the inspriation from my crew and other dancers (kenswift, flow etc.), to every day people... the way i move is my imagination and creativity, just feeling the music and having soul in my dance
How often do you train, dance and practice? If currently not much, what was the most you ever did?i used to train like almost every day when i was younger, after that was every other day, now its like once a week to when i have time, when u get older u have priorities and other goals. We all change. But i know my dance with always be there. FOREVER!
What is your most memorable moment(s) in your bboy career? HA! the early years of my bboying career, when it was just about the parties (the music, clubs , battles, girls)! fuck! the competiton. back then with ground efx, we cyphered it out at, club parties, jams, debuts... till it end, from raw battles at clubs that would last for hours, abyss battles, 10th street cyphers/battles in etobicoke, battles at eatoncenter, we did it every where and RAW, looking for a victim... even calling there homes to meet upto battle... no time limit, no last move, we battled till the end, the glory years! I also cherished every moment im with supernaturalz all the battles and parties...
What do you do for a living? What Job do you have? If you bboy/dance for a living, how do you make it work? Right now currently im working at a cellphone company, im part-time bboying, but still full-time dancing, i try n make it to every practice i can, hit up jams, even with out the crew, just to support what i love to do
right now im currently im working on a clothing line that should be out in 2006 hopfully, be on the look out!
Do you have a religion or belief? What do you believe in spiritually? well im catholic, and i still have my faith, and i love my God! honestly i dont wanna get into it to deep.
Are there any other talents, hobbies, interests or lifestyles that you participate in? well im good at FUCKING! im kidding, I still enjoy drawing with my pencil, writing(graff), im a sneakerhead collecting as much to look fresh, i love photography, and like i said im more focused on the clothing line in fashion.
Where do you think the bboy scene is going now, and where would you like to see it go?STRAIGHT UP bboys that are learning or still young in the game need to be educated on the dance and the history, so they can respect it. if it wasnt alot of the olderheads and OGs in toronto, toronto wouldnt be as far as it would be here today. It will get more wack if they re not proper educated. so know your role of history, know your music, and know your hiphop! I my self is still learning more about it and understand more everyday why i do this that i love. SERIOUSLY! The scene is dope! the jams are hype, the cyphers are raw, the battles are aggressive. But there are alot of shit in T.O. that are WACK! haters are wack, alot of non bboys are wack! the fuckers that hide behind the internet are wack! bboy gossip is wack! and most important, BITERS ARE WACK! fuck who does it better, or doing what every one does cause you see it on clips. we gotta bring the shit back, be creative in ur shit and show the respect.
What is your overall goals and dreams for the future? shhhh... dont i get a shout box? imma make up a final question at the end. but yea back to the question, my goals and dreams are personal, my future...in time will tell.
Are there any shout outs?YEA! Forsho! i like to thank my family my mother and father for every thing they gave me. And for NOT supporting my dance, cause it only made me a stonger dancer. my brother jay.
