My name is Cori and I'm 24 years old. I moved to Utah from San Diego in June of 2005. I've been singing all my life, but did not start training my voice until 6th grade choir.I've been in three musicals so far. In 7th grade, I was in a kids community production of Godspell in the chorus with my older sister, Rachael. I auditioned for Little Shop of Horrors in high school, did not make it and decided to stick with choirs. I was in my church choir, and then my high school's women's chorus. I earned an award my senior year from Bank of America as a "recognized musician", and even achieved my dream of singing the National Anthem at the Girl's Basketball tournament. After high school was when I started searching for God and finally discovered He was there the whole time. North Coast Church in Vista, CA really helped me define my relationship with God with it's fellowship. I sang for 2 Christmases and 2 Easters in the Gospel Choir as a Soprano and LOVED every minute of it. After moving to Utah, my new church, Christ Evangilical has really challenged my faith and helped comfort me when I have troubles in my walk with God. They have ALL been a HUGE blessing!I started college in the basics of singing class. It was there I met one of my inspirations, Mary Jaeb. She is an amazing woman, with a passion for music and a flair for life. She encouraged me to take more music classes. I took piano, music theory, and eventually the honors music classes. I was also in the women's chorus and the coed Chamber Singers. I decided to go back to my favorite topic, Musical Theatre, and see if it could help me with my audition skills. Mary was the vocal teacher, and I met the other of my inspirations, Jennifer Young Sager. She mentioned that she would be directing the spring musical: The Who's Tommy. I was a little skeptical, but, they encouraged me to audition. I'm glad I did. I made the most wonderful friends in that show, and even managed to nail a secondary lead. I had the best time of my life during those seven weeks. I was pushed and challenged, and pulled through as a better person. Tommy was probably the best thing that could have happened to me.I finished Tommy and a cast mate was directing Into The Woods, Jr. and was short on cast members, so, she asked if a few Tommy-members would join the cast as "guest artists". I was cast as "Rapunzel" and "Cinderella's evil Stepmother".Since moving to Utah, I have auditioned for Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Aida, but they were no gos. So, I'm just waiting for God's timing to be on stage again(my element). I have auditioned for Continental Christian Singers and was asked to go to Ukraine with them this summer as a Soprano, but, money did not work out unfortunately. So, I'll keep y'all posted as to new auditions! Enjoy my site and music and don't forget to Defy Gravity! In Him,
