I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Hello! My name is Devon. I have created this personal profile as a place for me to reserve for the people who I already know in the "real world". This is not a place for cyber friends. If you would like to be my cyber friend, then please go to my music profile. I'm always more than happy to add more people to my friend list there. If we get an opportunity to actually meet in person and hang out a bit, then you may make it to my friend list here.
Now for a bit about who I am. My sign lies on the cusp of Taurus and Gemini. I like to call myself a Taurmini, or the bulls. My sign means that I suffer from MPD (Multiple Personality Disorder), and each personality is very stubborn at that. We disagree on just about everything. Sometimes we even break out in fist-to-cuffs, but over the years we have learned how to compromise here and there.
I'm a weirdo. I make ridiculous faces, strange noises, and do wild impressions. "The Raptor" is one of my favorites. "Gollum" is many other people's favorite. But really my wild demeanor is just a cover for the serious mind underneath. I am very much a two way street. Sometimes I'm a whimsical social butterfly. Other times I'm quiet and reserved. It really depends on my mood. I love people, and I love meeting new people. There are however times when I could care less who you are or what you want, and I just want to be left to myself to brood, or ponder, or write, or... whatever. I can be very spontaneous and adventurous, and I can enjoy many things. Screw watching baseball or golf though!
I'm intelligent, philosophical, and in touch with my spirit. I like to see what lies beneath the surface of people and their ideas, morals, beliefs, etc. The exception here is Young Earth Creationists. These people are either fools (because they're ignorant to science and need to be reminded that the Earth is not flat) or idiots (because the whole topic is way over their heads, in which case they shouldn't have an opinion on the matter in the first place). I do however like to find the good in people, instead of seeing all the flaws and mistakes, so I try give them every opportunity to make a good impression. Sadly there are those out there that never have, and probably never will.
I also have a good ear for music [actually 2] and the voice to go with it. I play guitar and harmonica too. I karaoke now and then, and I love the attention it gets me. Too many times I have used music to break the ice with strangers. Music is my passion, and my 2 children are my treasure. I feel that without great music, the world would be a very sad place for them to grow up in. If you would like to hear my music, go here .
Oh yeah! 9 years of swimming gave me a great ass, even though I haven't competed in over 15 years. And one time my roommate DA paralyzed me by tickling my chode. It was really awkward. I did get revenge. That was really awkward too.
You Belong in 1977
1977 If you scored...1950 - 1959: You're fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!1960 - 1969: You are a free spirit with a huge heart. Love, peace, and happiness rule - oh, and drugs too.1970 - 1979: Bold and brash, you take life by the horns. Whether you're partying or protesting, you give it your all!1980 - 1989: Wild, over the top, and just a little bit cheesy. You're colorful at night - and successful during the day.1990 - 1999: With you anything goes! You're grunge one day, ghetto fabulous the next. It's all good! (This was a little trippy for me, because it's my birth year.) What Year Do You Belong In

My Interests

I have a pretty diverse palett when it comes to everything. I'm into all sorts of craziness... Philosophy, psychology, anthropology, fine arts/performing arts (especially music and writing), spirituality, family (especially my kids), animals of all kinds (especially my cat), cannabis and related horticulture, cooking (raised in a kitchen), white chocolate, raspberries, sunflower seeds, cashews, pistachios, Newcastle Brown Ale, amber ales, red wines, tequila, computers, video games, table-top RPG's, and I love playing with fire!

I'd like to meet:

People who love people. People who don't judge a book by its cover. People who aren't zombie sheep. People I can learn from, or who inspire me. People who have children. People who fit within these parameters that I have known previously but lost touch with. I like an energetic personality, a challenge. Intelligence is a must. Drinkers are great. Drunks are not. Chemistry is everything.

Music:

I love all styles of music. I do not appreciate all so called artists or bands. Terms like "alternative" and "progressive" make me wanna gag. When I'm with my kids, I'm all about the childrens' music. When I'm alone in the car, I'm all about oldies and classical for some reason. Then there's my music .

Movies:

I like a wide variety of movies, without regard to any particular genre. I think everyone should see Super Size Me. For more see my Blog.

Television:

I watch too much TV and it's rotting my brain. I usually watch movies, but some channels and shows I enjoy watching are...

The History Channel, The Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, PBS, Comedy Central (especially The Daily Show and Drawn Together), Cartoon Network (Robot Chicken rules!!!), The Simpsons (love Matt Groening), The Family Guy, King of the Hill, Star Trek (NG, DS9, or Enterprise), The Tick, and Heroes.

Off the Air/Old School
In Living Color, Spawn: The Animated Series, HBO's Carnivale, Beavis and Butthead, Pee Wee's Playhouse, Oz, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Mork and Mindy, The Greatest American Hero, Laverne and Shirley, Sanford and Son, Good Times, Happy Days, M.A.S.H., Cheers, Welcome Back Cotter, Head of the Class, Newhart, Air Wolf, Night Rider, Perry Mason, The Twilight Zone, Tales from the Dark Side, Ray Bradbury Theater, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Voltron, Transformers, Speed Racer, G.I. Joe, and Robotech.

Books:

I really like fiction. The Alchemist: A Fable About Following Your Dream, by Paulo Coelho (Read this book!). Soulcatcher and Other Stories(an excellent collection of fictional short stories about black slavery) by Charles Johnson. Star Wars: The Han Solo Trilogy. There are too many more books to mention, so I'll name some authors... Tracy Hickman &; Margaret weis, R. A. Salvatore, Roald Dahl, Tom Clancy, Michael Crichton, and Anne Rice. Do comic books count? Because Todd MacFarlane is pretty bad-ass. I love stories of redemption. Kevin Eastman &; Peter Laird were excellent as well.

Heroes:

Because I look for the good in everyone, there are many people that inspire me, that I admire and respect. To name a few... my father, my mother's parents, my brother, my best friends, my kids, some of my teachers, Tom Petty, Prince, Batman, Spider-man & Mighty Mouse.
People lacking enlightenment, like G.W. Bush and Paris Hilton will never make this list.
Take the quiz:
Which Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle are You?

Leonardo
You're mature and get the job done. You are a natural born leader, and normally want to be the better of the group. You take your job seriously. You must! It may NOT be a game. When you select a sport, or something you want to do, you train continueously, constantly trying to perfect it. You're always prepared for a challenge, and are normally found one step ahead of your enemies. Loving family more than life itself, you are a good friend, and can be depended on at all times.

More on music (not moron music)

Ohkay. So I haven't accomplished anything musically in like 9 months, except finishing a song several months ago. But I'm writing as much as I can. I'm having a hard time not striving for perfection. ...

My Music

Until recently I'd felt like giving up on the music. The kids, work, and other obligations seemed always in the way, and with the loss of the band, my goal seemed too... unattainable. But there are th...
