The Tones of Curt!

About Me

The Curtones are simply a name derived from my real name, Curtis. I could have come up with something a little more clever to explain it, but, I didn't. I play the drums mostly, but I also love to play the guitar and bass, and record my own 'jams.' I call them jams, not songs, because they are mostly just that, a jam. I also post jams with other people, mostly friends.
I have been playing the drumset for about twenty years, mostly informally, except that last year, I attended music school at SUNY Purchase for Jazz Studies. It was an excellent experience that taught me much, however I felt at this time in my life, it was time to move on. I still hope to play and teach drums professionally, and am willing to jam with any other musicians, anytime. I will practice on my own time.
Since leaving school, I have decided to move out to Colorado and work as a lift operator at a major ski resort and 'bum it' for the winter- meaning, I am being a ski bum. Thus far, it has been the best experience of my life. Being on my own, meeting new people, working in an office that consists of blue skies, unbelievable scenic views, and the opportunity to ride fresh powder every time it snows. Not to mention how fun the living conditions are. Social gatherings are commonplace, as well as the opportunity to see local music and sporting events, like professional hockey games. The people I work with are amazing. The responsibility is just right, and for the next few months, I get to enjoy a different part of the country than I am used to. Of course I miss home, friends and family, but being on my own is truly a wondrous adventure. Please enjoy my page. Thank you for visiting.
