About Me

My first introduction to music was piano lessons at a very young age--I hated it. I couldn't have cared less about those classical pieces at the time. Finally I escaped, years later, having learned almost nothing, save a bit of ear training. As a freshman in college I started playing guitar. My roommate taught me three chords, and I could play real songs, songs I knew and wanted to play. I was off to the races. My first musical performances were in the theatre. Mostly doing folk music at Celtic and Renaissance festivals. I began writing songs of my own... I love to play music. And I love to share it with others.

My Interests

Music:

Influences: My favorite artists are the ones that seem real to me. They may not be the best players or singers, but I think they tell the truth from the heart.
Sounds Like: I've been told I sound like Springsteen, Howie Day, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty...What do I sound like? That's tricky. I work to bring a song what I think it needs, and I sound different with different songs. My latest record "New to Old Folk" is a collection of Celtic/Folk songs. Some are sea shanties, some are ballads, some are silly at times... I was an actor before I was a musician, and I ask who is the character and who is he/she talking to?
