I'd like to meet:
Somebody who has a beautiful Scottish manor house or small castle they really don't need any more, and who would just love to hand over the keys to a short, brunette seamstress-type named Marita Beth and her charming husband Kyle, two border collies and a bitchy white cat!
Music:
I love music that feels good--no matter the genre. American Musical Theatre, Madonna, Queen, David Bowie, old country--especially Willie Nelson and Kenny Rogers, John Denver, David Wilcox, Brave Combo, most Celtic music, especially that made by my friends . . .
Movies:
Excalibur, All That Jazz, Dangerous Beauty, Shakespeare in Love, A Man For All Seasons, An Ideal Husband, Chicago, Pirates of the Caribbean, any animated Disney film (have you seen Cars!? It's fabulous!), almost any musical--even the old school stuff (but, I'd rather see it on stage!), Scrooge, It's a Wonderful Life.
Television:
Thank goodness for dvr technology! The Tudors totally rocks---I have issues with the history vs. theatre choices in some cases, but overall, it's amazingly well-directed, well-acted, and a visual treat! Jericho (they CANNOT cancel this show right now!) Heroes, Shark, all three CSI shows, Cold Case, The History Channel, The Discovery Channel, HGTV, Trading Spaces, almost anything I can learn from by watching. In the past: Commander in Chief, Eureka, Buffy, Star Trek and STNG, Thirtysomething, M*A*S*H*, Cheers; and in the way back time: The Partridge Family!
Books:
In my childhood and youth: Laura Ingalls Wilder, EB White, JRR Tolkien, Madeleine L'Engle, CS Lewis, Nancy Drew series. As an adult: almost anything that is historical fiction, especially, Margaret George's Autobiography of Henry VIII; Erik Larsen's Devil in the White City, and Isaac's Storm.
Heroes:
Walt Disney--no surprise there, I guess.
