About Me

Redhaze Productions is a production company that emphasizes the preservation of history, culture and contributions of the urban community. From an aesthetic standpoint, we produce quality, innovative, transcultural works that function through an artistic means. We believe that with every production we epitomize and encompass a genuine sense of the human experience. And as a direct result, render a realistic introspective examination of social, spiritual and artistic forces.Founders Dorothy Tene' Redmond and Tyrone Staples, combined their production experiences and talent, and came together in 2003 to form Redhaze Productions. Redhaze Productions instantly gained notoriety for the success of its inaugural stage play “Mahogany Dreams”, which went on to be awarded and recognized by the city of Detroit. Since our inception, we have generated four mainstream theatrical productions. Redhaze Productions performance credit includes: “Mahogany Dreams”, “Hit 8 Mile”, “Love Is...”, "Voices In My Head"DOROTHY TENE' REDMOND (Artistic Director – Redhaze Productions) Dorothy began writing stories at the age of nine. From then, she knew that this gift God granted her was also a talent. This one time assembly line worker left her financially rewarding job to pursue her dreams. One of those dreams was to be a successful writer and producer. Having studied at Wayne State University and receiving her Bachelors degree, she honed-in and focused her skills to become a professional journalist and author, which lead her to write for the Michigan Chronicle, African American’s on Wheels and The Front Page magazine to name a few. Her career has put her in front of the television camera as an on-air personality for UPN/CBS Detroit. As a result, she helped co-host during the Lou Rawls U.N.C.F. telethon in 2004 for UPN. As the Artistic Director of Redhaze Productions, Dorothy has several hit stage plays in her repertoire that she has written and produced including: “Inside a Woman’s Diary”, “Hit 8 Mile”, featuring Coleman Young Jr., the award winning play “Mahogany Dreams”, “Love Is…” featuring Fox 2/ WJLB's Charles Pugh, and "Voices In My Head".TYRONE ‘TY’ STAPLES (Technical Director – Redhaze Productions) Taking note of his highly energetic, animated personality, Ty’s parents put him on stage at the age of four – the audience loved him, and he loved them - and instantly a connection was formed. His love for the spotlight led him to pursue further studies of the stage and screen at Wayne State University where he had the opportunity to write, act and direct. He has written nine stage plays - six, which toured with his former theater company ‘F&C Theater Ensemble’. He has appeared in dozens of theatrical productions, has landed small roles in 3 major motion pictures, been featured in 4 independent films, and in a collection of print and television advertisements, as well as premiered audibly in radio dramatizations and radio spots. His production credits are just as diverse as his performance experiences - having produced and directed a number of independent films, television commercials, and stage plays. He was an instructor of the Actor Training Program with Detroit’s infamous Mosaic Youth Theater before teaming up with Dorothy Redmond to form Redhaze Productions. Currently, he is a Studio Director with WXYZ –TV/channel 7 in Detroit.
