My Interests

Music and music production, singing, antiquities, reading, archaeology/anthropology, being out in nature (good for my peace of mind), photography, and anything that allows me to be creative and acquire knowledge.

I'd like to meet:

"You're Not My Kind of Girl" - New Edition..

Music:

We could be here all night on this one... I love soul/r'n'b first and foremost, 80s Top 40 and some older rock, even big bands and classical, depending on my mood. Did some dj'ing back in the day, and I've been collecting records since I was a kid, so I have thousands of records covering many genres and eras.

Movies:

Anything suspenseful or unpredictable (which is kinda rare). And movies that focus on family and friends. A few movies I never tire of: "Lean on Me," "Coming to America," "L.A. Confidential," "Back to the Future," "Soul Food," "The Shawshank Redemption," "Antwone Fisher," "Casablanca," "A Bronx Tale," "The Best Man," "Clueless," "The Five Heartbeats," "Mother," "Blue Hill Avenue," and "Motives." Some favourite actors are Morgan Freeman, Terrance Howard, Kevin Spacey, Harrison Ford, Denzel Washington, etc.

Television:

Family shows like "Good Times," "All in the Family," "The Cosby Show," "Under One Roof" (anyone remember that one from the mid-90s with James Earl Jones?) The kid in me loves "Boy Meets World," "Moesha," and "Sesame Street" (or anything else with puppets). I swear, if I'm channel-surfing and I come across "Sesame Street," I always stop and watch for at least a few minutes! But I don't have much time for television, really, except a little on the weekends... then it's usually some classic TV. Lately I've been hooked on "Soul Food" reruns.

Books:

"The Talbot Odyssey" and "The Charm School" by Nelson DeMille, Stephen King, David Morrell, "Animal Farm" by George Orwell, "Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger... yeah, the required high-school stuff. I need to make more time to read, as much as I love it. Especially Alex Haley's works.

Heroes:

Job, The Old African Kunta Kinte, David Walker, Elizabeth Freeman, Mariah Stewart, my ex-father-in-law John Henry Davis, Booker T. Washington, others........ musically, Quincy D. Jones II, Green/Gamson/Maher, Ahmet Ertegun/Jerry Wexler, Soulshock & Karlin, Mr. Edmonds, others... oh, and whoever it was that invented hot sauce. Definitely my hero.
