Virgo Degan

Virgo Degan is a singer/songwriter and model based in Los Angeles, California. Virgo's unique ability to hit perfect high notes and his almost eight-octave range has garnered him significant attention. After producing and performing on many demos for other artists, and working as a session singer, he released his first commercial EP, "Yes, it is." in Fall of 2003 on fu2ah! Music. "Yes, it is." is an eclectic mix of digital and progressive rock, trance, and ballads. The track "Stop Sayin' That! (Dark Trance Mix)" generated considerable buzz and was a huge hit for iTunes, LAUNCHcast and SIRIUS.
In 2006, "Lovin' You - The Remixes" was released; a maxi-single containing 5 unforgettable renditions of Minnie Riperton's torch classic "Lovin' You", remixed for modern dance-floors by todays top producers. Virgo's new versions of "Lovin' You" are energizing, contemporary takes on Riperton's soulful anthem. Virgo cites Riperton's music as his biggest childhood influence as a singer, and the maxi-single served as his personal acknowledgment to the artist who has most inspired him. Riperton passed away from breast cancer in 1978 at the young age of 31. Fittingly, Virgo is donating proceeds from sales of this single to the Minnie Riperton Breast Cancer Fund as a tribute to the original artist.
Although singing is Virgo's first love, his diverse and appealing all-American look has led to a long and successful modeling career. Starting with a runway show led by Suzy Chapstick when he was 14, he went on to land contracts with The Dash Group, OTTO and Elite modeling agencies. Virgo has been on the cover of The Advocate and appeared in numerous health and fitness ads, and prime-time commercials. Virgo's images have been used in greeting cards, calendars and collectables and he was featured in art books from acclaimed photographer Steven Underhill. He also appeared in a controversial and attention-grabbing billboard campaign for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA), which can still be seen at many athletic facilities, health spas, and nightclubs throughout Southern California. Most recently, Virgo became a prestigious model for the popular Ed Hardy clothing line and can be seen as the character "Camelot" in the "10th Muse comic book series, alongside famed model Cindy Margolis. Virgo continues to model for numerous charity and fundraising groups as well, while completing his latest album project.
Currently, Virgo is completing a new album of Love Songs in production that will include the ballad version of "Lovin' You" as well as covers of other timeless classics, including "Witchcraft", "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "The Way You Look Tonight". This forthcoming project, due in 2009, is entitled "Incurable Romantic", and will showcase Virgo's vocal diversity as he adapts his enormous range for these crooners.
