Band Members: I've been playing and exploring the guitar for just over 10 years now. I feels so natural. I was self taught explorer for the first eight years. I would learn all my favorite tunes and write my own along the way.My first REAL musical life changing experience happened when I was 20 back in 2002 at the very first Bonnaroo...(before clear channel got a hold of it) I went knowing only a hand full of the bands, but I knew the festival was going to be something I couldn't miss. I come to realize that there is this whole subculture of music and people and arts. A place were music is a language and not just a fad or an image like the corporate radio bullshit. It's a culmination of people of all ages and social status who are very passionate about live music. I felt it.....Yes!!! My kind of people. It's like one big family. People take care of each other. Complete strangers feel like long lost friends. You'll meet some of the nicest, unique people who feel like family. We're all here for the same reasons. The details are different, but the passion and the desire come from the same root source.
I am one of five founding members of the Iowa City based Jam/Rock/Funk/Reggae group HUNAB. We've been together for just over one year. We have a collective dream and together we have the strength to pursue that dream. When playing shows we like to connect with our audience both musically and personally. There's no better way to feel someones energy flowing than to get down to a phat ass groove. It's a give/take relationship. The people are just as important as the music.
Influences: Phish, radiohead, The Grateful Dead, SCI, frank zappa, john scofield, lotus, Days of the New, modest mouse. I dig all kinds of music: trance, dance, jam, rock, bluegrass, hip-hop, jazz and all its many forms, classical music is growing on me. I absolutely love earth music like: Shamanic Dream, Spiritual High, Sacred Earth Drums. I came across this band called Dead Can Dance. Very ancient-tribal-monkchant-ish......great stuff really.
Sounds Like: It's like putting your diary into an 8-track player to see what your life sounds like. This is mine. Everyone needs their own theme music.
