Afroboogie are the combined efforts and talents of Nelson Moreira (Dj/Producer/Label manager) and Neil Ward (Producer/ Engineer) both originally from Johannesburg, South Africa. Together, they have been producing since 2000 and the partnership keeps getting stronger with every release and support amongst some of the worlds top players has been phenomenal over the last year and it seems there is no stopping them.After a few releases on the Ministry of Sound US label and Whoop! they decided to put their efforts into starting up a label so that they could develop their own unique style of Tribal/ Progressive and Tech style house music and release it to the masses, this is how Afroboogie Recordings was born. The label is moving from strength to strength with every release and getting more noticed within the Dj elite circles releasing tracks under various guises like Afroboogie & Voodoo People.
The release of the label introduced the underground sound of Johannesburg to the world, exposing the South African club scene internationally.
