Sing as though no one can hear you!!

About Me

I have a tendency to sing loudly (and not just in the shower). Running from Memphis, TN to Peoria, IL each year for the kids at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is the most gratifiying event I have ever been a part of. Cleaning my house takes a backseat to hanging out with my family and friends any day. I am currently training for a half marathon and can use all the motivation/inspiration I can find. The areas that best fit me professionally and personally are education, counseling, fundraising and event planning, and anything to do with music and students. I used to work in the brokerage business, but I now work in college admissions and completely LOVE IT!! One of my proudest moments was passing the Series 7 on the first try, and the happiest day of my life was 21 years ago when my baby brother was born. And the most recent exciting news: I have FINALLY decided to pursue community theatre as my favorite creative outlet! Something embarrassing is that I cry when people win (always...whether a golfer sinks a putt, an actor wins an Oscar, or a little league team on a commercial wins first place). My greatest professional goal is to serve others by helping them discover who they are and what they are capable of. I see myself working in higher education for a loooooooong time. I often joke and say that I am a “girl who knows people”, but it is true. I seem to have a knack for helping people make connections. So, maybe that is why this myspace thing has me curious.

My Interests

Singing, playing piano, running, hiking, hanging out with friends and family, cooking/entertaining, relaxing in Central Park and along the tidal creek in Charleston, celebrity trash magazines, traveling, green olives, McDonald's french fries, diet coke and meeting new people.

I'd like to meet:

Old friends and new friends.

Music:

This is a tough one: Jack Johnson, Broadway musicals, Norah Jones, DMB, old school hymns, hot guys with acoustic guitars, Nichole Nordeman, John Mayer, Ben Harper, Frank, Ella, Harry, and just about anything live from Red Rocks. Oh, and I am a sucker for weepy TV soundtracks.

Movies:

School of Rock, The Notebook, Crash, Love Actually, When Harry Met Sally, The Thomas Crown Affair, Anchorman.

Television:

There is time in life to watch television? Grey's Anatomy (can't miss it), CNN (to stay informed), Good Morning America (every single morning). And there is nothing better than falling asleep watching the Cosby Show on Nick at Nite!

Books:

"Leap Over A Wall" by Eugene Peterson, leadership books (John Maxwell, etc), "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein, "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs" (yes, it is a real book), the Bible.

Heroes:

My Aunt Laura: for being everything I imagine a woman should be. My parents: for giving more than I could dream of. Melissa: for the most extraordinary gift...my brother.
