I used to have an inclination to find people. Now that I have found everyone I was looking for, I prefer new people just wander into my life, rather than my pursuing them. I like people who are a little weird (not as in scary weird) and a lot of funny. Those who are kind and those who are sincere. I like knowing the stories in other people's lives. Shakespeare said life was a stage. I think it's a story collection.
My music playlists are an eclectic mix of genres. I get into my moods for certain music and go with it. It's one of my addictions. Every day has to have music and I am always looking to hear something new.
Film Composers:: James Horner, David Arnold, Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, Dennis McCarthy
medieval music: Whiskey Bards (although a modern group. I must mention them as my favorites of the sound) or some of the softer more haunting melodies. I'm still working on liking the Gregorian chants. If I can find hummus I like, then I can learn to like this.
classical: Carl Nielsen, Bach, Chopin... I don't need to continue listing the greats. Anyone who doesn't like classical just has not listened to the right kind. Don't listen to the boring music. Try something that "rocks" a little.
Big Band: Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Larry Clinton, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Duke Ellington
Jazz: Other than the Masters (who are too many to list) Eddie Benitez (I can't recommend him enough. if you want to hear him, follow his link on my top friends), Brian Culbertson, Chris Botti (because sometimes I need "bor-ing" music too), Boney James
Vocalists: Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick, Jr., Nat King Cole, Andy Williams, Mills Brothers
Instrumental:William Joseph (he says he's going to take over the world. still waiting, Bill. ;-)), Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass,
Country: Toby Keith, Charlie Daniels, some of Johnny Cash's work (the hummus of country music. but I like some hummus now and I like Johnny Cash, so there you go)
50s-60s: Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, Bobby Darin, Beatles, Monkees
70s-80s: Eagles, Johnny Rivers, AC/DC, Blue Oyster Cult, Metallica, Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, bands that I'm not allowed to classify as cheesy...:P and so on.
90s - Present: Nickelback, Goo Goo Dolls, They Might Be Giants, Bare Naked Ladies, Counting Crows, Weezer,Ookla the Mok, Spin Doctors, Tantric
Various World Music. Especially bellydance music like Natascha Atlas. Although, Bill (mentioned up there in instrumental) has an awesome song on his new album that I plan on using for bellydancing.
***This is only a partial list of what I can remember as I am writing this. There is much more that I like and is being added on all the time.
The last movie I saw in a theatre was Ironman, because anyone who knows me knows I'm a bit of a geek at times. I know it's going to be my favorite summer movie already and plan on seeing it again. Here are my favorites. Some I haven't seen in a while.Phantom of the Opera, Secondhand Lions,Lost Boys (haven't seen this one since I was a teen, but it still ranks up there) The Sixth Sense, Holes, Pixar movies, Emperor's New Groove, Princess Bride, Back to the Future (how could I have forgotten that one)
Monk, Supernatural,Strange Days at Blake Holsey High, Food Network, History Channel, movies I have seen and movies I have not.
The Great Gatsby (F. Scott Fitzgerald)*you can learn some of life's greatest lessons from this. I have read it again many times*, The Walking Drum(Louis L'Amour), fairy tales and mythology, fantasy(especially Tracy Hickman), Canterbury Tales (Chaucer), Baldwin books poetry: Robert FrostI tend to collect old books whenever I can. I look at my book shelves and see many books that I still need to read. I think I'm really addicted to the smell.
