My Interests

I read constantly (preferably six books at once); play clarinet, flute, classical guitar, zither and mandolin to varying degres; paint badly but happily and embroider(!) but nothing is better than the odd glass of wine or three with funny friends.

I'd like to meet:

People who like music of all genres (excluding euro-pop, sending text messages with correct punctuation, art and dancing badly in public. Folk with a spoonful of irony and buckets of honesty who like to run down steep hills very fast when slightly intoxicated.....

Music:

Elliot Smith, Nina Simone, Aztec Camera, Nick Drake, P. J. Harvey, The Shins, Miles Davis, Damon Alburn, Radiohead (I am a child of the 90's), The Smiths, Ladytron, The Velvet Underground, Bach, Erik Satie, Frou Frou, Dvorak, Nouvelle Vague, Fat Freddy's Drop, Mike Patton, Belle and Sebastian, The Doors, Bessie Smith, Victor Borge, Chopin, Laura Viers, Tears For Fears, Joy Devision, Bijork, Massive Attack, Saint-Seans, Devendra Banhart, Mazzy Star, Queen, and I can't help it but Take That's new single makes me feel all warm and fuzzy - a bit of a hangover from being 12, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Imogen Heap, Mike Patton, S. L. Weiss, Tarrega, Jeff Buckley, Geoff Smith, too many to name..

Movies:

Anything by the Coen brothers, Kubrick, Hitchcock, Woody Allen, David Lynch. Withnail and I, Run Lola Run, Amelie, Secretary (Grr), Zatoichi. Most things containing Steve Buscemi because his face is fascinating or Alan Rickman because his eyes are lovely.

My Blog

Dubious origins.

Recently caused mild consternation on an army base in Cyprus  by sporting a hebrew-originated name and having the audacity to be born in Alexandria.  Luckily said birth-place is slightly les...
