Influences: Latris Robinson, AKA “Iceis”, was born in Hempstead, New York and reared in the Terrace Avenue Housing Projects. Now living in Atlanta, Georgia, this young phenom is ready to make her mark as not only one of the best female rappers in the industry, but one of the best rappers of all time.Kirk Gibbs, CEO of My Style Records, heard Iceis on MySpace.com and contacted her to see if she would be interested in auditioning for him. She came to My Style studios and recorded “Frozen Water” the title track of her highly anticipated debut album. Gibbs and his partner, COO William Horton, were so impressed She is creating a heavy buzz around Atlanta as she performs her first single, “She H.O.T.T.” at several venues throughout the City.“H.O.T.T. is an acronym for Heavy on the Top, which symbolizes my physique and the status I’m going to claim in the industry,” explains Iceis. “A lot of rappers are on the top but they’re not heavyweights. So while I’m on the top I’m going to be heavy because I want to weigh on the minds of my fans. I entitled the album Frozen Water because it defines me. This is my introduction to the world.”Iceis wants to take hip hop back to its roots – rhyme skills. Her lyrics are based on past and present experiences as she utilizes her surroundings to create a visual. She combines cunning & sharp-witted metaphors with clever hooks to create music that bangs in the club and is emotional & profound. Her influences include Nas, notorious b.i.g., big L, raekwon, jigga, & Tupac – all legends in hip hop.“When Nas raps, he really takes you on a ride,” said Iceis. “When you listen to Illmatic, you really feel like you’re in Queensbridge with him. That’s what I want people to feel when they listen to me - like they’re right there in Hempstead with me.”Bobby Ruckuss, an up-and-coming producer from Seattle, Washington, produced She H.O.T.T., and was very impressed with Iceis’ skills behind the mic.“Iceis is the baddest female rapper to hit the block since Foxy,” Ruckuss said. “She says profound statements that infuse the ghetto with female sexiness. The line from our song together that always catches my attention:‘Ice, I get it poppin like a fry in July, n***a fall back, you know my thigh highs stay strapped’. It’s the little phrases like that that make Iceis such a special rapper, not to mention her flawless delivery, and witty content. Iceis is a must-listen - she'll knock your socks off!”
