The Big Sky Project

TBSP is a contemporary Power Trio that incorporates the stylings of several genres into their musical pallet. The band blends blues, funk, progressive rock,and traditional music in to a product that could be best described as Americana Rock. TBSP was formed in 2007 and has recently emerged on to the local musicscene in Columbus, Ohio as a dynamic live act playing with local and regional acts.
The Back Bone of the band includes John (percussionist) and Sam on bass and backing vocals. The band's front man and vocalist Dan plays lead and rhythmguitar, harmonica, and mandolin.
John
John has been playing music for over a decade and was in the central Ohio band Maplewood who won the first area Rock and Rumble in 2003. While on the roadand recording, John's musical career has taken him from small venues through three states, local TV interviews, several live performances throughout Ohio,and write ups in several periodicals. His biggest influence is Bill Kreutzmann.
Sam
TBSP is a first experience for Sam. His enthusiasm for song writing and music in general has contributed a lot to the development of the band. Sam's melodicstylings glues the backbeat to the harmonies with a thick warm drive. His backing vocals can be heard throughout the band's songs and adds an additionalharmonic layer to their sound. Sam's style and presence in the mix is influenced by bass players such as John Paul Jones, Andy Fraser, and many artists fromvarious ethnical and epochal ranges.
Dan
Dan has been playing music since he was six years old. His musical career has taken him through several acts such as Dionysus, October, and Maplewood. He hasperformed for thousands of people, has had radio time, and along with John has performed in small venues through several states, had local TV interviews, andwrite ups in several periodicals. His stylings are influenced by everything he hears but especially by his band mates Sam and John.
The trio is working on recording and does not have a targeted completion date. They are currently playing live in area clubs and working towards the releaseof their self titled CD. Expand your horizons and soar to greater elevations and experience THE BIG SKY PROJECT!!!
