About Me

On February 7, 1974, I was born as Jill Tusing in Springdale, Arkansas, where I lived until I was 14 and my parents divorced. My mom and I moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, leaving my Dad and my Brother, Jeff, behind in Arkansas. I lived in Oklahoma until I met a wonderfully strange British guy named Joel who whisked me away to Colorado, where I became Jill Matthias and we've lived happily ever since.
Now, I am a stay-at-home mother of 4 slightly crazy, but wonderful kids. My oldest is Torein, who is 15. Tiffany is 13, Teagan is almost 10 and my baby, Tristan, is 6. We also have a dog named Molly.
Also, one of my very first friends that I met when I was 14 and moved to Oklahoma was Amber and she lives in Colorado, now, just 20 minutes away from me with her husband and two kids.
I love music, especially Bright Eyes, but I also like Jack Johnson, Dada, the White Stripes, NIN, Neil Finn and the Kooks. There are very few female voices that I like, but I like Sarah McLachlin and Maria Taylor.
I am a Christian, but I think that for the most part, organized religion is wrong. I think that too many people try to add their own rules and penalties so that they can control a population. I also think it is up to each individual person to decide what they believe and it's just lazy to let a church tell you what you think.

Music:

Movies:

I love "love stories". My favorite movie of all time is Love Actually, because it has about 20 love stories in one movie. I like comedies, but I hate violence. I don't like to see anyone get hurt and I cannot imagine why anyone wants to watch people suffering, even if it's fiction. The video below, the one where Conor Oberst is stabbed, is about as violent as I can handle, but he's still singing, so it's OK.

Television:

I like to watch shows like Dateline or 20/20, but only sometimes. I like Forensic Files and I like John Edwards Crossing Over. The only real sitcom kind of show that I like is Scrubs. I also like the show, Extras.

Books:

I don't really read books that much. Running a huge risk of sounding like a complete idiot, I will say that I love magazines. I like Time, Rolling Stone, Ladies Home Journal and Interview. When I get a magazine, I tend to read it cover to cover.

Heroes:

I think anyone who has a dream and is willing to commit to their cause, no matter what it takes, is a hero. I guess I should qualify that with, "as long as their cause isn't violent or harmful." It could be to save the world, it could be to be a successful writer, or singer or artist. It could be a teacher or doctor, as long as they're doing it for the right reasons.

These goofy teens are actually two of my four children.
Can we keep the emo?
