About Me

I was born on what I can only assume was a cold day in January, 1983. It was my mom's birthday. After a brief stay in what would later be known as The Old Hospital", my parents took me home to my doting brother, Jamie. Eleven months later, we would gain another sister, Martha. I went to elemenary school at Covington Street School. As I got older, my sister and I were allowed to walk the few blocks to and from the school with out a parent. We made adventures of the walk, cutting through trees and brush instead of sticking to streets and sidewalks. After school we would meet up with friends and buy candy and sodas from Bo's food store, which is now a Badcock Furniture Store. In middle school I was the chubby, pale girl with braces. Not really a hi-light of my exsistance but who liked middle school anyway. I met some of my best friends at I.E. Johnson Middle. That school is now an elementary school. In high school I had some really good times, although then it all seemed so boring. I drove a 1995 Oldsmobile Achieva that I shared with my sister. We hung about with a crew of music-obsessed book reading kids that just wanted to have some fun. I got my first job as a waitress at Scotia Village. I had no clue were this was leading. I attended college briefly at St. Andrews Presbyterian College as an Art major. I enjoyed myself. Perhaps too much. After a few semesters I found myself bored with this pursuit, got an apartment and went to work full time at the same place I had worked since High School. I spent a few years finding myself. I met my future husband at the local dive, drinking a Killians Red with some mutual Friends. His pick up line was unusual, all I cound do was stammer incoherently. (Way to be attractive Kat). We developed a relationship over Yuenglings and Basketball, trips to the beach, and evenings spent on a picnic table. We eloped on december 23, 2006. Stella was born barely nine months later. These days I still work at Scotia Village, though not as a waitress. Stella is growing faster than we can stand. Will is a marvel of brains and talent. My best friends are my siblings. Yancy and I are enjoying our new home and his new business. Our life is sweet.
