CADENZA are an all girl three piece from Falkirk, Scotland. They mostly play alternative rock music, but are also known to play some grunge, classic rock, and blues. Probably the most interesting thing about Cadenza is the fact that they are all teenage girls, yet they still manage to have an intense sound and grip every audience they play to. Daniel Wylie of Neon Tetra Records says "these girls have just about everything...the playing ability, the looks and the stage presence."
"Go and see this band if you - like me - don't believe young girls have it in them to rock and roll. Cadenza will open your eyes, your ears, and yes, your very minds." James Trimble, Falkirk Herald.
The band consists of Michelle Boardman (Drums), 17, Emma George (Vocals/Guitar), 17, and Kathryn Sharp (Bass/Vocals), 18.
Always eager to play as many gigs as possible, Cadenza have played many venues since they got together less than a year ago. Some venues they have played include Falkirk Football Stadium, Rosies, and Falkirk Town Hall. They have also been asked to play weekly at Grubowskis in Larbert.
Recently, the band have been concentrating on writing their own music, and already have quite a selection of tracks under their belt, with their songs "Just For Fun" and "Special" quickly becoming crowd favourites.
In February 2007, the band earned the opportunity to perform at Glasgow Barrowlands 2 to a sell out crowd at the Rock The Talk battle of the bands. Cadenza came second out of 30 bands, and on the night of the finals the judges said they found it difficult to decide between them and the winners. They said "They have a great chance of doing something if they stick with it and stay dedicated."
Cadenza show that girls aren't afraid to rock and get sweaty on stage too! This band have something new and different and are definitely a band to look out for!
