Hip-hop is in a state of emergency. With album sales on the decline, many are quick to say that today’s music lacks substance. With constant pressure from music videos, to trying to fit the format of commercial radio, many emcees are afraid to be themselves. In turn, the music has become stale, predictable, and detached from the true hip-hop fan. Void of any real emotion, today’s hip-hop needs a breath of fresh air. Along comes Locksmiff Entertainment to restore life to a music that has had a profound effect on changing today’s culture. With a universal appeal that people from all walks of life can relate to, Locksmiff Entertainment is taking the Orlando hip-hop scene to another level. Despite coming together in late 2005, Locksmiff Ent has risen to prominence in the Central Florida area quite rapidly. The group consists of artists C-Style, D-Light, Dzasta, and DJ M-Squared, as well as a highly motivated street team. Whether solo or as a group, the artists of Locksmiff Ent, manage to pack the same punch by combining their individual appeal to create a unique blend of hip-hop music. The epitome of versatility, C-Style, a witty and charismatic emcee hit the Orlando scene with full force in late 2002. Born in Orlando and raised in Apopka, FL, “Styles†a 2001 Full Sail graduate is a triple threat; producing, engineering, and rapping his way to become one of “O-Town’s†most elite and prominent emcees. Growing up as a child born into a musical family, C-Style was blessed with a gift to express himself though music. Ever since being introduced to hip-hop by a cousin at age 9, he has been honing his craft. After winning his high school senior talent show with his first completed song, he realized his talent and decided to pursue a career in the music industry. Known for his swagger and show stopping live performances, his humorous tales and uncanny knack to stir emotions mixed with his raw lyrical ability has generated a buzz from Miami to New York. After his first solo LP “That’s Life†in 2004 and the mixtape “It’s Time†in 2005, C-Style teamed up with Orlando’s hottest up-and-coming DJ, M-Squared, to form Locksmiff Entertainment. In this saturated world of DJs, M-Squared manages to stand alone. His humble yet workaholic demeanor and ability to rock a party non-stop while staying involved in many elements of the music industry sets him apart from the competition. Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Orlando, FL, M-Squared began DJ’ing professionally at the age of 18. While attending classes at Florida Atlantic University, M-Squared quickly became the go-to DJ for many college parties in South Florida, as well as DJ’ing for artists such as G-Unit, Juel Santana, AZ, and Terminology. Also, as a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity he has lent his services to many charity events. After completing an extensive internship with Universal Music Group, M-Squared was ready for the next step. Shortly after graduating, M-Squared returned to his Central Florida roots to join C-Style in creating Locksmiff Ent. Since relocating to Orlando, M-Squared has been able to progressively expand his brand to the Central Florida area. He not only produces music, he also currently serves as resident DJ for several of Central Florida’s hottest nightclubs, as well as being an official DJ for the international clothing empire Guess?. He is widely known for his critically acclaimed mixtapes with music stemming from the golden age of hip-hop to its current hits.A passionate emcee, songwriter, and performer, D-Light reminds you of that golden era of hip-hop. Born and raised in Connecticut, he became a poet at a young age. As he grew, D-Light was molded by the competitive culture of hip-hop and the struggles he experienced. Using the world around him is his inspiration, his topics of songs range from politics and personal struggles, to partying, love and relationships. You also can't forget street bangers and battle type lyrics full of boasts and swagger. Respect is due... D-Light has been rocking shows and dropping albums for the last seven years in the Orlando scene. Whether dropping a solo song or a collaboration, D-Light always brings realness on the mic. In the spirit of many great artists to come before him, D-Light aims to improve the culture and the music itself. His goal is to resurrect an art form, lost over time to commercialism.Dzasta was born and raised in Columbus Ohio. At a very young age, Dzasta was listening to all types of music from gospel, jazz, and R&B, to classical and rock, as well as hip-hop. With such a passion and love for the arts, he decided to channel his energy and life experiences into music. As the years progressed, Dzasta began gravitating towards more influential artists such as: KRS-One, Public Enemy, De La Soul, Tribe Called Quest, L.O.N.S. and so on; artists with a purpose. Coming from a family of musicians and singers of the timeless funk and soul era, it is easy to understand why music is his destiny. Listening to his music, you can hear the influences in his beats and lyrics courtesy of some of the greats in their time. The year 2000 marked the birth of Dzasta’s love for intertwining many musical styles to create the beats that set the tone for his music. By later adding cunning lyrics, he created a savvy, smooth, new wave of hip-hop sound. Having an A.S. Degree in Music Production and Technology along with a good ear, gives him an edge in music that most producers and artists don't have. Dzasta's goal is to leave the ultimate mark in the entertainment industry throughout the world. Whether it is through music production, writing, or even creating programs where the essence of hip-hop is embellished upon, his determination for excellence will be known.Locksmiff Entertainment is focused on providing an unforgettable musical experience for the world to witness through the avenues of music, business, and life.
