South Florida native La Guardia (Born: La Guardia Cross Jr. 8/1981) has performed in schools, festivals, courtrooms, juvenile facilities, auditoriums, stadiums, parks, colleges, churches, and clubs throughout the past decade; sharing the stage with the likes of Krs One, O.C., and Kidz in the Hall. Recently deciding to turn a hobby into a mission, La Guardia arms himself with truth, transparency, relevance, intricately constructed lyrics, and complementing rhythms.
Blending funk, soul, tribal, classical, old gospel, and a strong vocal delivery, La Guardia presents his unique brand of hiphop/mission: to spread love, empowerment, and creativity. Lending his music to protest/fundraisers for the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, United Students Against Sweatshops, Katrina Victims, and Umoja Village have been some of the most recent testaments to this cause.
With 2 independent albums and an ep under his belt, LaGuardia began pushing his first home grown and fully invested solo project “The Take Off EP†in Jan 2008. The underground community has embraced his words and music with open arms. Inspired by various activist and spiritual leaders from around the world La Guardia continues making danceable conscious music to challenge the mind, community, industry, and himself.
