'A curse attends that woman's love, Who always would be pleasing. The pertness of the billing dove, Like tickling, is but teasing. What then in love can woman do? If we grow fond they shun us. And when we fly them, they pursue. But leave us when they've won us.'
On here, friends, old and new. I did used to say anyone but unfortunately the amount of randoms, that think that because they live in vaguely the same area of the country as me that we'll have stuff in common, is getting ridiculous. In general- My Grandfather on my father's side and...
I like to think I'm pretty open minded about music; I have a pretty diverse taste. However, I will draw the line at dance music; not only is it repetitive and unimaginative but also despite its title and short of the old 'big fish, little fish, cardboard box' you CANNOT DANCE TO IT!!! I could list all the stuff on my itunes but that would take aaaages so instead I'll give you a random selection...have to start with the Kaiser Chiefs-I love them-hurry up with the next album damnit!!! Blur, Arctic Monkeys, Killers, Britney (leave her alone!), Girls Aloud, Coldplay, Keane, Damien Rice, Razorlight, Death Cab for Cutie, Jem, Joss Stone, The Feeling, Kelly Clarkson, James Morrison, Ashlee Simpson, The Verve, Ok Go, The Kooks, Panic at the Disco, Placebo, The Strokes etc etc... Oh yeah and I was raised on the following; Beatles, Simply Red, Stevie Wonder, Harry Chapin-Greatest Stories live will change your life so listen to it, Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, Phil Collins, Van Morrison, Queen, Don McLean, Temptations, The Kinks, Rod Stewart, Rolling Stones, Rick Astley-he's originally from Warrington too!!! Technically it's not music but I love getting my weekly best of Moyles podcast because I never get up in time to listen to the actual show-whoops-but seriously the man makes me wet myself
My two favourites are Notting Hill and Beauty and the Beast, I love all the disney ones really. Erm I'll run through some of my incredibly girly dvd collection; Notting Hill, Love Actually, How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days, Mean Girls, Bridget Jones, The Wedding Planner (can't remember anymore). Recently saw Memoirs of a Geisha and it was fantastic, also Brokeback Mountain was beautiful and moving. Why is it that when it comes to writing things like these your memory goes blank? I'll have to get back to you on the rest I'm afraid...
A dreadful time consumer and distraction but unfortunately one that I cannot live without. lets see...I've watched coronation street all my life, as a student I have to watch neighbours and hollyoaks, waking the dead, top gear, have I got news for you, big brother (I can't help it), I love all those programmes bursting with teenage angst like the oc and one tree hill and dawsons creek (back in the day)
Rebecca, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice (I am a girl!). I read 'The Lovely Bones' a year before everyone else jumped on the bandwagon damnit! 'We Need To Talk About Kevin'-Lionel Shriver is just fantastic. Jodi Picoult's books are about as trashy as I'm prepared to go but I love them. Ian McEwan is an amzing writer, so far I've read 'Enduring Love' and 'Saturday', 'Atonement' is awaiting me at home. 'The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon' is a short one from Steven King but a gripping read none the less. Although boys staples I really enjoyed 'The Catcher in the Rye' and 'A Clockwork Orange'. 'The Time traveller's Wife' was beautifully constructed (I jumped on the bandwagon that time). As a child I was obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine and as young girl any of the Point Horror, Babysitter's Club or Sweet Valley High Books kept me entertained! There are so many more but I couldn't possibly remember them all so I'll wrap it up now by saying that I love to analyse any poetry and Shakespeare provides good meaty essay questions- forgive me, I'm and English Lit student and a FUCKING GEEK.
My Cousins Chris, Holly and Andrew have been through more in their lives than anyone I know can lay claim to. If you think you've got major problems like divorced parents or relationship troubles etc, talk to these three and you'll realise that it all means jack shit. My parents had really tough upbringings and continuous misfortune and tragedy but they dragged up me and brothers ok, so they're heroes in my eyes. On a slightly less serious and pretentious note the following also have my greatest respect...Tranny Rach (only podcast listeners will understand), Ringo-just for the hours of enjoyment that Thomas the Tank Engine provided me, Napoleon Dynamite (that's an obvious one), Mr Potter (again an obvious one) and last but not least Boris Johnson-just ahhh, bless him. Oh yeah and a more recent one, Richard 'hamster' Hammond, come on the guy is obviously superman and after he survived a 280mph car crash I feel slightly less embarrassed to admit that I fancy him hehe:)
