Reno is a young 23 year old DJ/Promoter from Sydney who’s achievements so far suggest there is a bright future ahead. Within 8 months of his first turntable purchase in May 2005, Reno had already established a professional career which was seeing regular bookings around respected Sydney clubs. By August of 2006, the ball was well and truly rolling with Reno embarking on rotating residencies at two of Sydney’s most famed club nights; Kink & Smut. Soon to follow was regular bookings at Sydney’s home of underground music, the Cave @ Chinese Laundry, as well as guest bookings at all major clubs around town including Moulin Rouge, Yu, Candy’s Apartment and The Cross.
Reno with his versatility and obvious technical ability has been the promoter’s choice on many occasions to support big name internationals. In what is still the very early stages of his career, he has racked up an international support list that most couldn’t dream of achieving in a lifetime, sharing the bill with the likes of Trentemoller, Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, Pig & Dan, Hybrid, Phil Keiran, Josh Wink, Alex Smoke, Timo Maas, King Unique, Ewan Pearson, Bjorn Wilke, Ran Shani, Boys Noize, King Roc, Steve Bug, Switch, Tom Neville, DJ Falcon, Funkagenda, Alex Metric, Jo Mills, Paul Harris, , Alex Kid, Lisa Loud, Coburn, Freq Nasty, Z-Trip, Sammy Jo & The Outlaws.
To add to the residencies, guest slots and international supports, Reno has also featured at some of Sydney’s premier events including a prestigious booking at the 2007 Future Music Festival which came within 1 year of professional DJing, Kink’s 4th Birthday, and Big New Years in Little Laundry.
On the promoting side of things, Reno along with his two partners have created the monthly party Explicit, which since its inception has been highly regarded amongst fellow dj’s promoters as well as punters, for being one of Sydney’s hottest parties pushing a music policy firmly based in the underground. Having just ended its tenure at Yu with a massive up for it crowd, the Explicit phenomenon shows no signs of slowing down as it heads towards a new venue and relaunch in May.
It is no surprise that Reno’s entrance to the Sydney circuit was quickly noticed by people who mattered. A strong knowledge of electronic music combined with flawless mixing and a unique ability to bring quality underground sounds to the masses has seen industry heavyweights such as Ajax, Ben Morris & Sam la More labeling him as one of the future stars of the Sydney scene. Definitely one to watch.
