-HI, my name is Star. I have been living in the Elk River area for 2 years now. I am Neo-Pagan. For those out there, I am not Wiccan. Do not confuse me with those who are Wiccan. Not that I think that there is something wrong with Wiccans. A few of my friends are studying to be Wiccans, of one tradition or another. I know that I have Wiccan selected on religion; however, it seems to be the only Neo-Pagan choice this site provides. I have always been an Eclectic Neo-Pagan. I began my journey in Neo-Paganism from about 1994 to present date, well; I fully understood that I was part of the Neo-Pagan Movement in about 1996. I, originally, started with Wicca. Reading whatever I could find and learning that some authors just write books with very bad research. Later I grew discontent with Wicca. I just didn’t feel right, for myself, about the structure. I have always been Solitary. I am now a member of Ar nDraiocht Fein: ADF, and I am working on the Dedicant Program. I am focusing on the Hellenic Culture. It is said that this program will take about a year. However, if you don’t have a game plan it will take more than that. This program requires constant study and review if you really want it to take a year only. It isn’t as hard as it may sound. There is a wonderful document on the ADF webpage that a member wrote to help with this problem. It is only available to members though. He broke it down into week lessons. One lesson per each week of the year until it is completed. (For those who are curious go to: http://www.adf.org )----------------------------------------------------------- I was introduced to this wonderful organization (ADF) by an old friend that helped me out many times in the past, when I was 19. She was a Sr. Druid for her Grove. As time went on, I lost contact with her and most of the people that had made a wonderful impact within my life. Not too long ago I had remembered the ADF website and wrote into them to find people in my area. I explained my situation and they sent my request to my old friend. She was very helpful, and helped me make contact with some great people close to my area. (Of course all of these people's real names and what have you will remain unspoken, due to respect of their private lives.) Hopefully, one day, I will be able to put Minnesota back on the ADF listing of Groves... Well, it would have to be a Proto-Grove first. Just to let you know that my friend Mariah is work her tail off to get ADF members together to pull a proto-grove together at: http://groups.google.com/group/adf-minnesota---------------- -------------------------------------------I am also a member of Twin Cities Pagan Pride. I am helping to organize volunteers for this program. I think that it is a wonderful thing to help out with. It is one way to become involved in helping the Neo-Pagan community out as a whole and meet new people with similar ideas and feelings. I, during the warmer times of the year, also organize a park clean up here in Elk River at Lions Park. This is also a nice way to help the whole community in general, do something good for the earth, and, also, meet new people with similar ideas and feelings.
