About Me

♠Brandon Starr♠ ================================
Fallen STARR from heaven by the name of Brandon Starr a.k.a Lil Sainte (Only my homeboys call me Lil Sainte) or just Starr. Here to stay until it's time to fly again. Established in Anniston, Alabama raised for about six years then moved to Oxford, AL. About four years later began to get into music (about 10 years old) under the influence of the brother, Kevin. Fan 2pac and the best group (my opinion) Bone Thugs -N- Harmony. Have to represent The A "Alabama" on the real. Shouts out to the haters, let them go ahead and do what they gotta do, they're not doing anything but making me stronger and supporting me. Big ups to the people above: God, my folks and friends Resting In Peace. Just to keep it real though, my lord and savior are the ones who have kept me motivated (besides my family and friends) to this day, they are the ones I want to thank for everything now, and everything planned for me in the future. Remember: "Hatas Hate Harder" and "Real Recognize Real"
--B Starr Check In--
BiographyBorn Brandon Smith, March 8, 1991 under his parents, Arnold and Starla Smith. Brandon was a person who did not find out how much he truly loved music until he was ten years old. This was the beginning of Brandon “Lil Sainte” Starr. March 8, 1991 at approximately 8:20 p.m. Starla gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, weighing in at 7lbs 14oz at Regional Medical Center in Anniston. Because of stomach problems, he was transferred to St. Vincent’s Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. After staying there for one week, he finally returned to Anniston and was able to go home. But who would of known that this baby boy’s future was to be known as the handsome, young and successful rapper/producer, B Starr. Brandon grew up listening to Michael Jackson, Tupac, Bone Thugs N Harmony, and now...he will listen to just about anything if it sounds good. Everything from Throwback songs by Earth, Wind, and Fire, The Temptations, Luther Vandross, and many more, to Rock/Punk/Pop bands such as Fall Out Boy, The Fray, The All-American Rejects, and many more. This was only the beginning.....
Life Before Music Career:
Starr has not always just been into music from Day 1, he started off with his FIRST love of sports. Starr was very Athletic and Fast. During his early years of 1999,2000,2001,and 2002, he played Oxford Pard Basketball (Little League Basketball) and quit his last year due to the starting for his love of music.
Then, the following year in 2003, he joined his school’s band to play the snare drums. That was his only and last year in the band due to football. But he did win an award that year on a plaque that said “Most Valuable Award.” That same year after he had to quit the band, he started to play football for his Middle School during his 2002-2003 school year.
Now in his 2003-2004 school year, he was in 7th grade by then, and Coach Mixon was the one who was preparing him and the rest of the 7th grade to be on the undefeated 8th grade team since 1999 (Six years undefeated-the year he played). Although that was only a practice year for the upcoming football team that he was soon to be on next year in 8th grade, he did learn a lot since it was his first year ever playing football period. But one other major thing that happened before the real season was to start, Starr, as well as the Family of Austin, Austin’s team mates and friends suffered the lost of his friend, the team’s punter who could punt 50+ yards at a young age (still in 7th grade then). His name was Austin Neeley Smith, R.I.P. Now, in 8th grade, was the kick off of his first ever, real year, first taste of an actually football season. After all of the tough practices he had went through, he hurt his wrist on one play and decided to go get it checked out after practice. Turned out that he had been playing with a broke wrist ever since he started from the first day of practice. The twist of it is is that he had broken his wrist due to an incident in P.E. back in 7th grade and got it checked out then and was supposed to wear this brace that was given to him, but he ignored the doctor and kept taking it off, but little did he know, he was only making it worse. He ended up with Tendinitis in his wrist and did not get to play in first, only, and last season of football.
At first he was still going to be able to play his last four games because he was supposed to get his cast taken off after his first four weeks were up, but when he went back to the doctor’s office to get it taken off and checked again, he ended up having to keep it on for another four weeks and that was the end of his 2004-2005 season. But the team did keep the tradition alive, by finishing out the season as undefeated once again for another year, but the following year, the upcoming 8th graders lost a game and ended that, and that was Coach Sal’s last year of coaching. Also, B Starr was going to be one of the starting corner backs, along with Ty Martin (His friend), for that season. One other funny fact, Starr and his long time friend, Trey Woodgett, or as most of you know him, Thug Baby, used to try to skip so many practices due to laziness and just the fact about practicing.
LIL SAINTE QUOTE: “One thing I can never forget during those days is one time at practice, Coach Sal, who was our coach for that season. He was a great coach to me and was very helpful during practice, he made practice fun. But back to my lil quote, it was one day at practice when Trey was not there (Trey was a very good player who could of did something in football if he would of kept playing in his later years) and Coach Sal wanted to know where he was, all I remember is Coach Sal yelling out...WHERE’S WOODGETT!!! and my home boi Chandler Shakespere (Soon to be the next Famous football player) gon’ bust’ em out talking about...he quit coach. That junk was funny though, because that was during Spring Training then and at the beginning of 8th grade, which was the beginning of our real season practices, Trey had came back to play for the team and stuck with it that whole year.” END LIL SAINTE QUOTE.
Well, after his whole year of not playing any games, B Starr decided he was not going to play the next year. Now, his 2005-2006 school year was here and he tried out for the 9th grade Basketball team and made it of course, but then quit for some odd reason. Then, come to find out, Starr quit all because of his SECOND love.....Music. He now decided he was going to go fully into music now. B Starr basically just decided to give up all sports and focus mainly on his music 24/7.
Music Career:
Starr had changed his name several times before finally sticking to the one he is known for now...B Starr. At the age of 10, sometime around July 8, 2001, he began his rapping career. It all started off with his icon, his older brother Kevin Smith. Starr really looked up to his brother, and that is why to this day, B Starr stills recognizes his brother as one of his Greatest influences. Other influences that Lil Sainte has are Bizzy Bone, Bone Thugs N Harmony, and Tupac. The only reason B Starr started to like and look up to Bizzy and Bone Thugs was from Warren and Matt Wallace (Long time friends to his brother, Kevin Smith) told him to download a song by the name of “Thugz Cry” by Bizzy Bone and that is how it all started. Ever since then, Bone Thugs N Harmony has been his favorite group.
B Starr started off by naming himself Nicais, which was one of his first rap names ever chosen. He had gotten that name in a weird way though. He got it from the word Nike when he was looking at a shoe box and just added the AIS to it. Starr started off with just a blank tape and a tape recorder and slowly progressed to using a microphone with the computer to record songs. B Starr stuck with the microphone on a computer for a while and used that to make his music.
Only a couple of weeks later, Starr hooked up with a good friend by the name of Colby Grizzard, or as some of you know him as Mr. Grizz, and they then started up a group by the name of O-Town Boyz. At this time, so called Nicais had changed his name to Baby B, his second name chosen, and Mr. Grizz known as Lil’ C back then. They both stuck with those names all the way until the end of their 2006 school year (9th grade). The group was supposed to be consisted originally of Trey “Thug Baby” Woodgett and Ambrose “Lil Prothro” Moore, but that did not work out to well. As time went by, B Starr and Mr. Grizz completed a whole Mix Tape that had gotten out around the school. His 2005-2006 school year was here and a Hip Hop Promoter by the name of Michael Chatman came to their school to speak for an assembly. After the assembly they went to speak to him about their music and he told them to send their stuff to him when they had it done and that he would give it to his friend Ted Lucas, the CEO of Slip N Slide Records to listen to as well as other various producers. Well, they did just that, along with some of B Starr's music and they got a response back. It did not work out to good the first time, but it was a good response for Starr to learn off of, and he did just that. He took that response and worked on what needed to be worked on to make himself better physically and mentally with his music. This was the end of O-Town Boyz and they never made another song together as the O-Town Boyz. Due to that, B Starr sent two more of his Mix Tapes to Michael determined not to give up, but still got back not the response he was looking for. They kept saying that he needed to find his own style. But they did feel that Sainte would make a great Producer one day with more experience. Back then, B Starr did not quite understand the whole deal with finding his own “unique style” until his father, Arnold Smith, came into the picture and taught him so much and explained to him about having his own unique style. Now, after taking in all of the information he has been given, Starr took it to a whole another level.
Starr, now known as Young F.R.E.S.H, his third name chosen, had started his 2006 summer off with his long time friend, Sterling “Lil S” Reynolds and started a Label called RR Productions. By this time, B Starr's 2005 Christmas was special, because during this Christmas he had gotten studio equipment and set up a little studio area in his room. Now with better equipment, more knowledge, and two great friends who had the same amount of love for music, there was no stopping the whole movement they had coming. With all of this going on, they thought they were making hits, but little did they know, they were not actual hits, they were just songs that THEY thought were hits. It took them a while to figure out what they were doing. “That’s what Trial and Error is for right???,” said B Starr.
With that said, B Starr pushed even further and found how to use his equipment to the fullest and that helped the sound quality a lot. Just soon after that, B Starr hooked up with Hamilton Park member CynCere and B Starr came out with his first hit “I Miss You” ft. CynCere. At this time, Lil Sainte was starting up a group by the name of Most Wanted, which consisted originally of Marvelous and Thug Baby, then later, he added on Mr. Grizz. Around all of this, B Starr's uncle told him that he goes down to Roy Jones Jr.’s house in the summer and that he could help him with his music if he would like. Of course B Starr did not mind his uncle trying to help, so he did just that, and gave his uncle the best hits that RR Productions had out, so his uncle could give it to Roy Jones Jr. and his label, Body Head. Now with all of this going on, B Starr started his own Record Label, called Just Vibe Records, so with that, RR and the rest of the artist including: Drop Dead, Most Wanted, Marvelous, as well as others were now to be under Just Vibe. Records. The reason B Starr decided to make his own label is because he is an inspiring producer, so we will just leave it at that.
To Be Continued.....
FACT: B Starr, to this day, still uses every bit of help that was given to him by his father and brother, and that is what is making him move so successfully. B Starr matured so rapidly some how and learned so much, so quickly. Usually it could take up to years for somebody to mature as much as he did with music, but maybe it is just a GIFT B Starr has.
