** my name is val and i live in ferndale, michigan. i am a purchasing agent for a lighting company and working on a masters degree in architecture at lawrence tech. i love a good challenge and think there are too many interesting things in the world to ever be bored. if only there were more hours in the day, i might get to all the things i had planned. . . **

My Interests

**OUTDOOR-SY THINGS**-- camping, waterskiing, boating, canoeing, whitewater rafting **SPORTY THINGS**-- Running, Tiger's and Lansing Lugnuts baseball games (and one of these days, I'd like to get up to Traverse City for a Beach Bum's game!) **NERDY THINGS**-- dinner parties, knitting, random craft projects, reading, history channel and food network, museums, cooking, eating, lazy sunday afternoons watching tv with ron and my dogs, and redecorating my apartment over and over again **MORE FUN THINGS**--apple orchards and haunted houses, bar nights, chicago!, MSU tailgates, and shopping **

Music:

Mostly a country girl! But I like a little of everything. Luba and I even went to the opera last year.All time favorites include: Counting Crows, Phil Vassar, Brad Paisley, Garth, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Lonestar is awesome in concert, Salt-N-Pepa (all time fave dance songs)I have played piano almost my entire life. And flute for half of it. Someday I'd like to join an orchestra and play again, but when I have more free time!

Movies:

I am completely out of the loop on movies!

Television:

Well, I don't have much time for tv these days (not a bad thing, I don't miss it!). . . but before bed sometimes, I love watching Food Network, the History Channel and HGTV Real estate shows. ] '[/.

Books:

All time favorite: Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead... it's about an architect, of course. Oh, and Mitch Albom's The Five People You Meet in Heaven. That was a good one, too. Right now, I am reading Atlas Shrugged.

Chicago Half Marathon!

I just signed up for the Chicago Half Marathon with Sarah and Jon!  13.1 Miles, here we come!  And we are going to need all the cheerleaders we can get . . . October 1, 2006 Downtown Chicago...
