Keep it movin' Thats how you know your still alive.

About Me

For all those that've searched for me by my given name, yeah its me. I've actually had lots nicknames over the years but since I've started this page to keep in touch with my people all over the world, I thought this nickname fits best.Books is what they call me around Norfolk-VA 'n that area (The seven cities). I got it cause heads used to be surprised by the large collection of books I have. My father told me that reading is excercise for the brain, and you'll usually catch me reading several books at a time.'Tha Bedouin' is self explanitory. I've moved around quite a bit, living in three different countries, visiting seven. It's not really a lot per say, but more than most people I know. Hey most of us don't get out "Da Heights" right!?Anyway, I'm someone from the Hip Hop kulture, a subculture that- in my day- was looked on with suspicion and distrust. Hey, whatever, you fear what you don't know right, thats natural. Now Hip Hop is global, industrial, accepted by the masses...and yet its weaker in many ways.So back to me, these days I'm tryin to nurture our future, working with the youth as a counselor. I'm also studying business, lookin' foward. I try to switch up the music videos on here and keep the butta old school joints coming. I also scribe regular blogs so check 'em out for random thoughts, rants or just some laughs. Peace..

My Interests

Islamic studies, Ravens football, business, politics, Hip Hop, music in general, psychology, philosophy, books, films, NERDs and Gobstoppers, skateboarding, photography, sunny mornings, rainy days, malt shakes, hiking, colors, knowledge.

I'd like to meet:

Spirtually speaking: All the prophets and their companions, from Noah to Muhammad (May blessings and peace be upon them all). I'd love to just follow them around and absorb their knowledge. And I gotta say, I'd love to get their perspective on current events.
Otherwise: VArious MC's and poets for lyrical inspiration, Jon Stewart and Dave Chappelle for laughs, various politicians just to smack 'em in their face. (see below)WORLD'S SICKEST GANGSTAS

Music:

Mostly hip hop (in no particular order) Nas, Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Jeru da Damaja, Rakim, Biz Markie, Tha RZA, tha Gza, Ol'Dirty Bastard RIP (tha whole WU), DJ Premier (the greatest pure Hip Hop producer) Rick Reuben (the greatest all around producer of my time) Common Sense, Slick Rick The Ruler, KRS One, Boot Camp Clik, The Ghetto Boys, Das Efx, Large Pro and the Main Source, Gangstar, Premo, Neptunes, Clipse, Famlay, Jay-Z, Beatnuts, Kurious Jorge, Dead Prez, The Coup, Del Tha Funky Homosapien and tha whole Hiero crew, Chi-Ali, Tribe Called Quest, DeLa Soul,(Tha whole Native Tongue), Diamond D, Big L, Lord Finesse, O.C., Brand Nubian, Snoop, Dr.Dre, Fat Joe, M.O.P, Mobb, Nine, too too many Hip Hop Heads to name. But I'm ecclectic. I dig alternative stuff, love the Gorillaz from day one. Radiohead is da $*&@. Jazzy stuff (Shade' is amazing!) Brand New Heavies, R&B: Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Jodeci, Mary J.(big fan of old Mary), SWV, etc.; Rock: Guns N Roses Appetite for Destruction -(one of the greatest albums of all time), Nirvana, Ween, Sublime, Sex Pistols, The Clash, etc.; Reggae: Bob Marley, Buju Banton, Supercat, etc. etc etc.

Movies:

Well, I luv those revenge themed stuff, like "Snatch". The soundtrack was dope too. Must see movies are: Kids, Sin City, Reservior Dogs, Beautiful Mind, MatchStick Men, Clerks and all Kevin Smith's stuff, Warriors, Godfather, Scarface, Chinatown, E.T., Annie (yeah whatever, first film I ever saw) Although it's lewd Knocked Up was hilarious. The Big Labowski, Will Ferrel's stuff, Zoolander. I'm actually a little movie buff. I've seen too much to get into here.

Television:

Ever since 9-11 I've been into news programs and world events. Al Jazeera English is on satellite and that offers coverage you want see in the US. I get most of my news from the Daily Show though. I like the cartoons like South Park, but The Simpsons is the original. I was telling people about Family Guy years ago and finally people listen. Scrubs, Sopranos, Deadwood, Adult Swim. I watch documentaries when i can too if the subject is intersting enough.

Books:

Mostly Islamic books. For non muslims I recommend What Everyone Should Know About Islam and Muslims By Suzanne Haneef. Yeah, I read a lot but now I'm studying so I dont' get to read recreationally as much. Its all good though, this summer I got to finish off Kingdom by Robert Lacey. Its an interesting piece of Saudi Arabian history. Also Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ By Daniel Goleman, is another must read, especially for psychologists and parents.

Heroes:

You should already know my heroes are the prophets. After that my parents. Then after that people who are generous, thoughtful, humble, considerate, innovative, etc. (And if you have some of these qualities then be a mentor or "Big brother" or something. In other words, be a part of the solution)BELOW IS SOME HIP HOP HISTORY. TRUE CLASSIC JOINTS (OR HONORABLE MENTIONS). I TRY TO DIG OUT SOME JOINTS EITHER YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT OR HAVEN'T HEARD IN AWHILE. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK.ALSO I'M ADDING OTHER MEDIA CLIPS, FUNNY MOVIE CLIPS OR CLIPS OF INTEREST. I'LL TRY TO CHANGE EVERY SO OFTEN SO KEEP CHECKING.
