WITH ROBERT MANOS WILL BE PREFORMING AT OBRIENS ON THE 24TH OF APRIL HERE'S SOME PRESS ON THEM: SEBA (Secret Operations / Metalheadz / Paradox Music) Stockholm, Sweden Swedish producer Seba has been making top quality tunes for a number of years, with a string of releases on Good Looking Records and some house excursions for Svek under the alias of Sunday Brunch. Originating from Ingaro, an island just outside Stockholm, Sebastian Ahrenberg started producing in the early 90s. Working with a basic home studio, he began by making techno, but soon progressed to a more breakbeat-orientated sound, which is know today as drum and bass. Seba collaborated with Lotek on the track 'Sonic Winds', which was the first of Seba's tunes to be released on Good Looking. The duo made another appearance with 'Universal Music', which was included on Logical Progression 2. This was followed by a number of singles by Seba as a solo artist - by this time he was rapidly gaining a reputation as a talented producer, creating tunes such as the rich, ethereal 'Valley Of The Moomins'. In 1997 Seba started the club Secret Operations. The club went through a long range of successful nights down in a cellar called Tuben in central Stockholm. In 1999 the club was transformed into a record label and released a CD compilation entitled "Case One", and featured artisits such as: Alaska, Future Engineers, and Lo-Tek. Due to known and unknown circumstances the label disappeared out of sight after the SOCD001 release. However, the label didn't sease to exist, it was mearly cloaked and invisible, simply waiting for the right time to strike again! That time has finally come, and the first release on Secret Operations in years surfaced in December 2002.Releases in 2004: Seba feat Robert Manos - make my way home - offshore recordings Seba & Lenk feat. Robert Manos - 16 stories - Metalheadz MDZ4 Seba & Lenk feat Robert Manos - captain freak - secret operations Seba feat Robert Manos - steel paradox music Seba & Paradox - you didnt see it - paradox music Seba - breaks selection - combination records Releases in 2005: Seba & Paradox feat robert manos - move on - hospital records Seba & Paradox - it's not a dream - paradox music Seba & Lenk feat robert manos - every man for himself - bassbin compilation Seba & Paradox - frost - bassbin Seba - shapeshifter - secret operations Seba & Paradox - remembrance - secret operations Seba & Paradox - planet...stars - freak recordings Seba feat Robert Manos - make peace - vibez recordings Seba & Paradox feat Robert Manos - last goodbye - paradox music AND PARADOX (Metalheadz / Paradoxmusic.com / Secret Operations) London, UK Paradox is International music producer and breakbeat icon Dev Paradox. His career started back in 1989 when 'Mixrace' was formed with partner DJ Trax. The first professional recording by Mixrace was in 1990 and was produced by the Plastic Jam (of Labello Blanco). After brief relations with Surburban Base and Strictly Underground Records the first Mixrace 12" surfaced in 1991 on the early Moving Shadow Records Label. Both producers only 17 at the time released the early Mixrace Hardcore classic 'Too Bad for Ya/The Future is Before Your Eyes' (SHADOW 018). Four more releases followed on the Moving Shadow label and in 1995 Dev and Trax set up their own Stronghold, Mobhanded and Offset Recordings labels. New artist guises surfaced in 1996 in the forms of 'Alaska' and 'Paradox'. Dev wanted to show his diversity by creating two different genre's of Drumfunk with Alaska being the ambient monkier of the two, and Paradox exploring the drum patterns of 1970's funk. As Trax started to program breakbeat at different tempo's, Paradox's sound took off in another direction with a string of releases on Renegade Hardware, Certificate 18 and Reinforced Records. Eight years on and Dev has now recorded for over an amazing 50 record labels including Goldie's Metalheadz, 4-Hero's Reinforced Records, LTJ Bukem's Good Looking, London Elektricity's Hospital, Certificate 18, Partisan, Dylan's Freak Recordings, Renegade Hardware, Timeless, Total Science's CIA, Blame's 720 Degrees, Nexus, Danny Break's Droppin Science, Dylan's Freak Recordings, Subject 13's Vibez Recordings, Twisted Funk, Toshiba-EMI, Ninebar, Sonica, 2000 Black, Sheebeen, Form-3, Holland's Rush Hour Records, New York's Offshore Recordings, and Italy's Archive Records. Paradox also runs his own 3 records labels Outsider, Esoteric and Paradox Music alongside the heavy release schedules for other worldwide labels. In the studio music collaborations have included artists such as Sweden's prolific Seba, Nucleus, EZ Rollers, Flytronix, Subject 13, Volcov and legendary Jazz Musicians Bill Laswell, Herbie Hancock, rocker Iggy Pop and Funk legends Weather Report. Paradox remixing duties include 4-Hero for Talkin Loud/Mercury, Yasushi Ide for Warner Brothers, Boom Boom Satelites for Sony/Epic, LTJ Bukem and Makoto for Good Looking, Classical Indian legend Shobha Gurtu, Justice, IlLogik & Raf, James Hardway, NXS, Blue and DJ Trax for Lacerba. Paradox was invited to create music for the Arcade game giant Konami Entertainment plus exclusive written works for Sony Playstation and Japanese Manga Cartoon Company Marine Entertainment/Avex inc. Paradox returned to the multi-media market this year and 2005 saw Paradox's work placed on the NBA ESPN Playstation2/Xbox Basketball game alongside other tracks from Public Enemy and the Roots. Dev Paradox has released two albums on major label Sony Music Japan throughout his career, and 2004 also saw Dev release not one but TWO albums on Vibez Recordings and Reinforced Records respectively. Paradox has exclusive endorsement deals with Firetrap Clothing, Acupuncture footwear and Bloc Eyewear. Dev Paradox is also without doubt a live touring machine outside the studio. Paradox has performed over 100 overseas live performances. Every month of the year you can catch Paradox's one-man-band live show truely worldwide. Paradox has visited all corners of the globe and has headlined live shows in East, West Coast and mid-west America, Japan, Asia and literally all over Europe from London to the outer regions of Russia and Iceland. Paradox also performed live in the BBC studio's for the BBC's digital radio service 1Xtra, a first for a Drum and Bass artist on National UK radio. 2005 has been Dev's busiest year to date. Apart from re-visiting all corners of the globe Paradox has been invited to remix non other than Jazz legend HERBIE HANCOCK. A true representation of todays funk technicians from the past, the present and the future. 2006 sees the release of yet another TWO artist album's from mr Pandya, plus the constant spray of 12"s and live worldwide tours every month of the year. Let the Drumfunk roll.... paradox music website CHRIS MUNIZ :: NIGHTSTALKER
With his flawless technique and signature style behind the decks, Nightstalker is a name that has become synonymous with dancefloor mayhem and the future of west coast junglism. Best known as an expert and champion of drum & bass culture worldwide, its no secret that Nightstalkers alter ego as music journalist Chris Muniz has earned him immeasurable recognition and respect.
Currently the drum & bass editor at URB and monthly contributor to the UKs own legendary Knowledge mag, Nightstalker can also be found representing in mags like Rinse, XLR8R, and ATM on a regular basis. With over seven years as a professional journalist under his belt, Nightstalkers relationship with all the major players ensure that he has steady access to the freshest tunes, VIPs, and remixes long before they're released to the public. Even without the smoking bits in his bag, theres no doubt that Nightstalkers infectious energy and ability to work the crowd have earned him a hardcore following.
Having played at every major drum & bass arena in Southern California, Nightstalker originally paid his dues in the rave scene, hustling gigs and dropping beats every chance he could with fond memories of legendary L.A. underground venues like the Masterdome, the Shaolin Temple and the Stillwater Hotel. Even more important was the creation of his infamous and now-defunct Thursday night rinse-out Primordial on vibeflow.com. While it was definitely a space for fresh talent to make a name for themselves, most heads tuned in to catch sets from the all-start cast of VIP players who would often drop by unannounced. Heavy-hitters like Pendulum, Klute, Photek, Panacea, DJ Rap, Pieter K, E-Sassin, John Tejada, and even non-d&b artists like Ron D. Core and Omar Santana would regularly roll through and flex their skills for the internet massive.
Now in consistent rotation at all the top clubs and parties in the U.S., Nightstalker has rocked crowds alongside the likes of Goldie, Ed Rush & Optical, Tech Itch, Dylan, SS, Dillinja, Lemon D, Roni Size, Marcus Intalex, Trace, Black Sun Empire, Mampi Swift, Friction, Hive, Gridlok, and Juju to name a few. Known for pushing audiences to the breaking point and transforming an average night at the club into a high-energy, mind-bending journey, its obvious that Nightstalker enjoys the music as much if not more than his audience does. Part entertainer, part performer and part shaman, the only way to truly understand the power Nightstalker wields is to experience him live with a crowd of heaving bodies at your side.
Fresh off his recent 3-date tour of Japan supporting none other than Goldie, Nightstalker can also routinely be found bringing the heat to cities like San Diego, San Francisco, Denver, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Las Vegas, Seattle, and of course, Los Angeles. Eager to take his vibe international with planned appearances in Japan, Germany, Holland, and Russia in the coming year, also be expecting a full-fledged production assault that is sure to further solidify Nightstalker's reputation as one of the hottest new-school artists to emerge in recent memory.

I have been thinking of ways to promote the 10 year anniversary next week at the Phoenix and the truth is, there is no need for anything but words from the heart. So please read up! The Phoenix Landing has been part of the Boston EDM community and proudly supporting electronic music for 10 years now. Bringing in guest DJ's from all across the world and back. Regardless of your personal taste in music, house, techno, drum & bass, breaks, some have seen dj's and producers for the first time at this venue, some have heard their first beat at this venue, most have found everlasting friendships, and even never ending love. The laughs, the beats, the drinks, the boat cruises, the smoke sessions out front, hi_fi pizza next door, the feeling of the place just going off and vibe of that room just overwhelming you with joy! Next week we celebrate the 10 year anniversary of The Phoenix Landing! We ask you to come celebrate the 10 years that have made this location so special. Come see why we love the Phoenix Landing so much, and understand why it is so important that we continue to push this venue into the future. Recently, we were almost at a loss of Wednesday nights at the Phoenix Landing. By pure luck, they decided against changing the format and decided to continue on and support what we do. Now, you may say to yourself "I attend sundays, or I attend thursdays" but the truth is. This could have impacted us all as a community. Our local EDM scene has been struggling a bit over the past few years. Local record shops have come and gone, weekly events have come and gone, and things just haven't been the same. The interesting part is, with technology and music production at this day and age, it is at it's best! Point being, get out there! If there has ever been a time for you to show your support to electronic music and your local community, that time is now! Support those who support you. Let's push for another 10 years of memoriable moments and amazing music. cheers, coppo aka melee....... posted by melee shadows of society satellite records bostonbreaks all .coms i then posted this: Well big respect for all the years this place has been bangin out shows and local cats. I've grown up threw watchin that spot and remember the first time I was ever inside i was like 16 goin in there to drink with a fake id before there was really anything like this going on there i'm now gonna be 26 crazy right. There was live music but not like it is now.the rave was massive then so the club life was just a little short of that. All the nights and people that put on all the events here(not just at pheonix or elements but everyone)are all mashed together in some sort by all the circles of friends that make Bean and New England a spot that we call homebase,(even though some are driven to persue goals other places).Big sense of community here and pheonix has been a staple for us heads to all meet and chat and just brock the fuck out.So massive one to pheonix and all inhabitants of this fine establishment.and of course LARGE THE F%^K UP ELEMENTS-DNB LENORE CROOK AND MDOC HELLS YES

Sounds Like: Miztah Lex on Cause and Effect Recordings COMING SOON DON'T SLEEP..... a mixture of reggea and jungle and hip hop AND FOR ALL THE ELITEST CATS DRUM AND BASS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Miztah Lex on Cause and Effect RecordingsOne of the masterminds behind Elemental Compounds, Miztah Lex has a track record that goes on for miles. Not only has he played every major Drum and Bass night in the city of Boston, but he is one of the few Boston D&B DJs who is frequently playing raves and clubs as well as hip-hop reggea dnb jungle and ragga events all over the country. Armed with a crate full of all the hottest D&B tunes and sets that include hard to find jams and Hip-Hop classics, his Hip-Hop background comes through in his rugged mixing style. 2005 has seen Lex launch Cause&Effect records (along with Rob Penta and Tuffist) to showcase his unique vision and the hottest ragga and jungle/dnb/hip-hop and reggea producers and artists in the world! I want you to all understand that Im not the typical ragga junglist. I dont try to talk in a different accent or act like something Im not.Cash rules everything around us and we all have to break bread, like it or not. That doesnt mean we cant have a sense of community though, and I believe if we work together we can overcome any obstacle, those who struggle and persevere will succeed. Make music, learn your roots, dont talk out of the side of your neck. Be prepared, stay focused. There is always a bigger guy, or a smarter guy. Its up to you and them how you or they use that or it.Because yesterday today tomorrow what's the diffence? There isn't any. I established Cause and Effect Recordings with a few goals in mind, I wanted to do things my own way and exercise my own vision, bring the music to the masses my way. When I say my way I want you to understand that its not the only way, its just my opinions and taste.Opinions and taste built from experience, firstly as a performer, secondly as a crew front man and event promoter and thirdly as a raver since 1995.I feel I have learnt a lot about this music game in the last 10 years, something I have always felt was important was how I presented myself and how I like to see other people present themselves, whether on Cause and Effect or any other label.Or in any other lifetime.Cause and Effect just works as a name for me, its so relevant, for every cause there is an effect, maybe not an immediate effect, but regardless there is always an effect, right and wrong, good and bad, ying and yang hahahhahaThe name was not actually my idea though, that was Tuffists idea, originally I was going to go with Foundation Sounds with Don Daka, but Tuffist was stuck on this Cause and Effect tip so it just felt so logical and right.I run the label and the offshoot labels which are coming up very soon, Tuffist is my label mate and assists with management, he also heads up the ragga side of Cause and Effect. My main business partner is Robert Penta and Get Nice studios, we also have a grip of skilled designers on board, people like Mykey from Konkrete Jungle, [email protected], [email protected] collection has been a hobby of mine for a long long time and I always wanted to own a Jungle/Drum and Bass Record Label, however I came up in the scene during the whole change of the sound and all the advances in technology, as a result I have the up most respect for good sound production. If someone is doing that sort of thing and will sell me a piece of it or will write some of that stuff for us, I feel it should be played and will play it. I've taken on a personal mission for myself, and that mission is to ease people into drum and bass music. The plan has always been to use influences from music's I like best, like Reggae, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Funk, Dub, Downbeat whatever to help people through the transition. So, we got the business and design side of things locked down, and guess what, the music is coming thick as well. With nuff tunes ready.Cause and Effect has a great roster of artists who are working hard to develope reputations as skilled producers and performers, some are just starting out, some are really well developed. In addition to the Ragga-Jungle Camp I also have a whole other camp of more DNB oriented Ragga Artists, the DNB side of things is taking most of my focus at the moment, we have a grip of tune signed from some serious producers and have some real vocalists getting onboard, its looking very nice indeed. My vision with the drum and bass side of our label isn't really any different from the jungle side, it's still the same message and reasoning that's always been behind what I do and what I am bringing to the world. In the Ragga camp names include Krinjah (Hand Grenade,MTL), Loqtus (QCmovement, LA), 16AJ (Illegal Sound, Canada) and NYC's own Tuffist and Lyon, Koda (Urban Drumz), RAW/Headhunter (LA) R.A.W has an EP dropping on Cause and Effect and Koda is coming out on a single 12inch. These cats are real ragga producers, working with real software, proper sample sources, tight sequencing and mastering. I respect them all beyond music though, cause they are smart cats learning the ropes about the back ends of business, holding down in real life and keeping shit tight, all cats from really diverse backgrounds as well.We have a few really good DNB producers on the label now, artists who were making names for themselves before we linked up and would still be making moves even if we had never met and I am really happy they feel at home here.Statillac aka Static aka Scott Gottesman, owner of the second all DNB record store in North America 4-Front Records. Scott was a key player in bringing the UK Jungle Drum and Bass sound to America in the early to late nineties and he gets a lot of recognition over in Europe. He's recognized as a legend in the US Drum and Bass scene and he will be releasing his first 12" record on Cause and Effect Records.Dirty Deeds from California USA, a three man production team. They will be releasing an official remix from Jamalski new album Ruffnecks Revenge with us, serious tuneage for real ragga dons!! The tune is called Devils Dandruffs a huge production with an anti-drug message brought on by Jamalski infamous dnb ragga hip hop legend. The flipside is going to be from Philidelphia Dstar, the man running MetalheadsUS for Goldie along with Myster Mason and Trust, DStar is a good friend of mine and has a few releases with us in the pipeline.DStar rolls with The Gasm Crew, which is himself, Myster Mason and Trust. They also perform with Armanni Reign and Sharpness(aka Mental Sharp)In the future you can expect releases from up and comer Diode (Signal Recordings U.K.)and Moldy(Selector Moldy) Moldy who is on Forestry Service, Counter-Intelligence, Thermal Recordingss and is a dj for Offshore Recordings as wll as a long time friend is a very impressive producer and extremely well educated artist who is residing in NYC USAand playing on a roster. He is well respected and has many years put in earning his props payin dues. Diode will be a big deal out here in New England and the USA as well as one of the first to get a record signed out of MASSACHUSETTS USA.He also is a amazing graphic designer, designing album/record/single/ep and flyers/covers for various labels around the world including Barcode and Signal Recordings UK.He works for the graphics company Mode Graphics and resides in Worcester MA USA.Another skilled team doing work for Cause and Effect is Mr Matt and Crisis aka Terravitta, these boys are remixing a lot of exclusive VIP vocal material we have purchased over the last few months. Terravitta are from Providence RI USAand are represented by TrainspottersMusic & Volume Productions. Mr.Matt is a skilled dj and longtime vet in the community.Crisis is a really skilled event planner and works part time as a booking agent. DJ Drama and Ripshop will release a hip hop ep that will go quickly it is to good.Ripshop was on Ruckus Records and also had a succesfull 12" on Fat-Beats as well as guest appearences and DJ Drama is not only ECARMY but he is also working with every hot MC in Boston as well as he's produced a album for some one in LA and been in the studio for years. Also known as one of the best and longest running breaks and b-boy dj's.Even Old-School LA Don CRS? Is thinking about getting onboard Cause and Effect Recordings.. To be honest tons of artists have been expressing interest in getting on board the label, but our roster is full until spring next year, shits getting busy.Interview by Martyn Souljah Sensi Pepperell. rcola KGBkid bigg triggs. capitol j liondub bass nacho navigator million dan terry t souljah sensi murderbot cause and effect records miztah lex celestial conspiracy second room sound irie way records dreaded youth
