About Me

Perhaps 2007 should be a time to reassess who I am. (Any ideas would be either greatly appreciated or swiftly deleted) I am still in regression, more swiftly than mentioned previously and this does not appear to be a trend that will alter through the coming 12 months. The worrying thing is that many of my friends from the 60s, when I was as youthful as my current list of friends, are now grasping desperately at their past and getting in touch. I wonder if it's because they, or we, hope that if enough of us remember how we were some forty years ago, we may return to the looks and energy of that time. We forget that while we were growing older we were also growing wiser (well they were perhaps) and our lives were being enriched with the inclusion of a new and expanding family – I refer to my last parenthesis – sorry lads, I‘m only joking! Unlike myself, the Mrs. Bennett is looking forward to ageing at least three more years so that she can retire. She would love to frolic and cavort through life as I do, (well in my dreams I do!) but unfortunately someone in the house has to be grown-up and responsible so that we have a reasonable pension to look forward to in the future, in the off chance that our offspring decide not to support us. (No! Putting me in a home, as so often threatened, is not an option!) To be honest, I will quite happily reminisce with those old acquaintances but I do hope that my new friends will continue to keep in touch but please write more slowly – I had a conversation with someone the other day and I could have sworn he asked me if I had any choc-ices in the freezer! My Interests

Making music, writing and romance(again only in a passive sense these days!)

.. width="425" height="350" ..

I'd like to meet:

I would like to meet, Homer Simpson, to see if we are as alike as some say; all those friends from the 60s; all the young ladies on my sons’ lists of friends and my own of course but please not all at the same time; Jesus, to see if we would have looked alike if he’d got older (I’ll burn in hell for that); Simon Cowell so I can sing ‘I know a song that will get on your nerves’; Nige, so I can offer him my last choc-ice; Gary, from Last Orders, well he is almost as old as me isn’t he and, if I’m not too busy with the others, the old ‘me’ so I can tell him what a great life he is in for.

Music:

I like any thing with a good beat. I'm still not sure about The Streets rhyme but can understand the sentiment. Perhaps its my time of life but I do like girl singers.

Movies:

Beginning to see more films - due to the concessionary prices!

Television:

I can fall asleep watching anything.

Books:

Stephen King does it for me but I refer to my last comment. I fall asleep after one page and have to re-read time and again.

Heroes:

Call me old-fashioned but I don't include footballers, pop singers or film stars as heroes. Give me those clean living, public-spirited types like Tony Blair, John Prescott, Jeffrey Archer........http://s224.photobucket.com/albums/dd44/micgle a07/?action=view¤t=MOV00267.flv

Geoffs Monoblogue 2008

It only seems like a year since I last revised my blurb so I won't do it again. Life continues to come up with new experiences. The old friends are still renewing acquaintances which is pleasant ...
