I am here for Friends

About Me

Red of hair, pale of skin, pure of heart, short of cash.Okay, the thing is I typed this whole damn page out last night, hit save, and NONE of the fields saved to my MySpace page. It was all quite clever and impressive, and then it was all quite gone, so after I died a little inside, I told myself I'd try again in a day. I'll save each section as I go and pray for the best, but my wife's laptop is no HAL9000, and I've been burned once already.....OK, so far so good. On 05/21/06 I suckered this fantastically beautiful woman into marrying me - the FOOL! She's hands-down the best human being I've ever met. I suspect she married me for my company's spousal benefits, but I can live with that. We had our honeymoon in Ireland, and I'll have pictures of that and the wedding just as soon as my wife can figure out how to remove them from the strange silver demon-box.

My Interests

Books, sci-fi, comics, movies, music, mysteries, mythology (Greek, Norse, and Egyptian).

I'd like to meet:

Actually, I'm setting up this page hoping to find some old friends I've lost touch with over the years.

Music:

Lately I've been listening to a lot of Ben Folds Five, Johnny Cash, Smashing Pumpkins, Coldplay (and I'll defend them violently if need be), and The Dandy Warhols. But my tastes tend to run all over the place musically. I like some of a lot of people's stuff, and all of almost nobody's. Like Stevie Wonder. Remember how much ass Superstition kicked? And that awesome d-d-d-d-d-d-dut-dut-duh-duh-duh-duh-duh thing in Part-Time Lover? Then he just called to say he loved her and handed over his mojo. And what's up with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers? Is it just me, or is Danny California the exact same song as Last Dance With MaryJane by Tom Petty? And what's the deal with airline peanuts? I mean, are these little bags made for the gremlins on the wing of the plane?.....I seem to have digressed a bit, but my point is this: Journey's awesome. Seriously, if you can hear "Jee-yust a small town girl...." without feeling something stir deep within your soul then you are dead inside. DEAD I SAY!

Movies:

Oh jeez, where to begin? Jaws is maybe the most perfect movie ever made. Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss are a great onscreen duo, and 2010 is only good because of Scheider. Then there's (in no particular order) Superman, the Indiana Jones trilogy, the first Matrix, Garden State, A Knight's Tale, The Name of the Rose, Pirates of the Caribean, Murder By Death, The Prophecy, the X-Men trilogy, So I Married an Axe Murderer, Almost Famous, Buckaroo Banzai: Across the 8th Dimension (you heard me), Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and about 5 billion others I didn't happen to think of just then.

Television:

Alias (but I missed the 2 hour series finale because I just HAD to go on some stupid honeymoon - can anybody help me out?), Lost, Smallville (I'm loyal due to my comic fan roots), 24, Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica, American Justice, City Confidential (I'm still waiting on the Pequannock or Pompton Plains episode - got as close as Cherry Hill once!), Veronica Mars, Medium (even though I can't stand the main character), Futurama, Family Guy, Simpsons, Venture Bros., pretty much the entire Adult Swim line-up.

Books:

The Amazing Adventures of Kavelier and Clay, The Club Dumas, Company, Jennifer Government, The Complete Western Stories of Elmore Leonard, Stephen King's The Dark Tower series, Anne Rice's Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt, Mutiny on the Bounty, and then also Bounty by Caroline Alexander (a look at the historical facts of the mutiny and the fates of the crew), The Historian (the most surprisingly fantastic book I read last year), Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal (hysterical), The Alienist, Watership Down, The Watchmen, The Rule of Four, The Time Traveler's Wife, The Count of Monte Cristo, Wicked, American Gods, Men of Tomorrow, It's Superman!, Prospero's Children, Insomnia, Everything's Eventual, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.

Heroes:

Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Blue Beetle, Captain Atom....oh wait, like REAL heros? Ummmm.....public school teachers?
