Movies:
clint eastwood in any western vehicle. any movie featuring paul newman. any movie with john cusack up to and including high fidelity. did you know the same director did 'the bear' and 'the lover'? i was indoctrinated to the genius of mel brooks by my father and don't even get me started on james bond. the age of innocence is one of my most favorite films, stunning to look at and heartbreaking to watch. as much as i love the man and his work i can't bring myself to watch al gore's an inconvenient truth. christian bale is a god. helen mirren is a goddess.
Television:
30 ROCK, the office (UK & US), extras, weeds, the daily show, the colbert report, upright citizens brigade (brilliant but cancelled), strangers with candy, what not to wear (UK), buffy the vampire slayer, x-files, top chef, project runway, big love
Books:
i tend to lean toward the classics and appreciate authors like edith wharton, eudora welty, harper lee, toni morrison, sylvia plath and mark twain. i also have a particular fondness for historical non-fiction books like salt or seabiscuit as well as authors like david sedaris and sarah vowell. i'm a big fan of vintage cookbooks too.
