Well, it took me almost 2 years to tell about myself, so here it goes- I have a little testimony to tell. All my adult life I've always (and prided myself) on being self-sufficient and self-reliant. I didn't need anyone to give me anything that I could not do for myself. I was very proud of my accomplishments but I always wanted more. I had the house, 2 new cars, 2 kids. The all-american dream. The more I got, the more I wanted. I was doing very well. I was brought up in the church but I wasn't very religious. All of a sudden on Febuary 21, 2005 (I'll never forget that date- its burned in my brain forever), I got the terrible news that at 36 years old, I had breast cancer. I was in turmoil. I finally had a problem that I COULDN'T fix. All of sudden, all that I had acquired meant NOTHING. It finally made me take inventory of my life and what was important. It made me realize what I had to do AND put up with to keep those material things that I had acquired. It was my breaking point. I prided myself on being the best wife, mother, sister, friend, co-worker, employee.....someone everybody could depend on. Who do I turn to now? Through months of chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and emotional turmoil, the only thing left was GOD. When I finally let God in, everything within me changed. I mean, physically I was the same but inside something changed. During the radiation therapy, I was able to finally gather the strength to finally leave a 16 year old dead marriage. I FELT like a new creature. When I finally sat STILL and threw my hands up to the LORD, I can't DESCRIBE the PEACE I finally felt. I finally realized I was an idoloter. I put EVERTHING before the LORD. Not for one day do I NOT thank the LORD for his discipline, all of His blessings, but also the WAY I was humbled which brought me closer to Him.
