I was raised on the radio, so I like a little of a lot of bands. I'm not really fanatical about any of them, but I mostly listen to:
James Taylor, Carol King, The Eagles, Grateful Dead, The Beatles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Mamas and the Papas, Seals and Crofts, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Jethro Tull, Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones,Moody Blues, The Beatles, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Bad Co., Chicago, War, Santana, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, Bread, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Eric Clapton, Guess Who, Deep Purple, Three Dog Night, The Temptations, `Pink Floyd,
And I listen to a lot of Meat Loaf when I'm mad or agravated.
I watch a lot of Sci-Fi movies, especially the old classic ones, like the original "Ivasion of the Body Snatchers". Comedies are always good-- everyone needs a laugh. I also watch alot of old westerns and adventure movies. I like newer stuff too, but there's just so much more of the old stuff...and the new stuff becomes the old stuff anyway...
South Park. It's raunchy and sometimes I get grossed out, but it's about the funniest thing on tv. If I get offended, I just don't look. I watch the Simpsons and King of the Hill alot, but it's kind of a passive thing, since my husband is the one with the remote control... I love Monty Python, and I watch The Red Green Show right after on Saturday nights. They both keep me laughing!
I Love Anne McCaffrey's Dragonrider of Pern series. I've read and reread all of them, including the newer ones with her son, Todd.
Piers Anthony, although I did not like the Xanth series after the first few.
Rick Cook's Wizard series is definitely worth the read. I would probably appreciate it even more if I were a programmer...
Heinlein is also a big favorite. He was the first Sci-Fi author I read. I found a copy of Stranger in a Strange Land at the tender age of 13....
Spider Robinson is a given. If you read Heinlein, you gotta read Robinson. It's just too bad that he's not as prolific.
Astronauts, firemen, police officers, military, the people who go out there and lay their lives on the line for something other than to entertain the masses.
