Pascal Finkenauer - in der tat
Meinem Profil hinzufügen | Mehr Videospascal finkenauer, german singer, songwriter and crash-poet, born 1977, living in Hamburg.
at the age of sixteen pascal finkenauer started his musical career as frontman of a hardcore/punk band named EXHAUST.
his way led straight from a planned but then prevented school project week at a mental hospital ( his teacher didnt want to visit him there) right into a recording studio near Hamburg, where he stayed, working as artist and songwriter.
right after finishing school, at the age of nineteen, he signed his first record deal as singer of the hard-electro-band JAW.
their album "no blue peril" (edelrecords/ released 2001) got well known inside the german alternative music scene, but the band split up.after three years of working as producer and songwriter he returned in public, as singer of lofi-trash band THE BLACK CHERRIES, which he formed together with his long time musical companion JF Sebastian.
Surprisingly this raw teenage-angst piece of music was released by, at that time, one of the most famous german hip hop labels: yo mama recordings.
the record earned good critics, including album of the month in spex magazine. In may 2004, Pascal Finkenauer released a four track solo ep
(kiddo records) called "wir schreiben die gedichte neu", that can be taken as the beginning of an experimental journey during which he tried and still tries to break rules and style orders of popular music.
in september 2004 followed his critically acclaimed debut album called FINKENAUER.
using poetic german lyrics and trying himself on new vocal styles (tourette rap) between fast speaking, singing and screaming, he created a strange mixture of expressionist word structures combined with gently weeping pianos, furious string arrangements, traditional songwriting and unusual electronic beats.
although using familiar song structures of popular music the debut was too far out for commercial chart demanding but made its way underground - on the quiet.popular geman Hip Hop Band FETTES BROT,
became aware of his voice and asked him to join singing the chorus on a song for their album "am wasser gebaut".
the song called "An Tagen wie diesen", critizising social circumstances, media and warfare, climbed up to Number 9 of the german single charts in 2005 while pascal toured with FETTES BROT as guest vocalist and guitarist in their live band.in the beginning of 2006 he signed a record deal with GunLabelGroup, an independent division of Sony/Bmg and started working on his new record. he decided to include his live band into the studio work to bring more live atmosphere to his formerly electronic ideas and after five months of recording the second album called "Beste Welt," was released in january 2007. the new songs combine his unique vocal-style and lyrics with the strength and warmth of a live performing band -
something in between punk chanson, modern folk music and electronics.
