About Me

I created my own profile using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too!Who is Ryan Dodd? That's always the tough part. It's been awhile since I've updated this part and I didn't put any thought in it last time. A lot of people seem to have the wrong impression on me or just don't know what to think about me so maybe I can clear some thing's up. So, let's see what happens. As of now I'm 20 years old. I weigh about 185 lbs and I'm 6'2 tall. I like to consider my a very open-minded person who tries really hard to constantly remain optimistic. I'm definitely a "liberal," in almost every sense of the word and proud of it. I'm not defining myself by the political meaning of the word "liberal." I'm defining it on my own terms. If I had to cram myself into one of the two major political parties, it would definitely be the democrats, but I don't really agree with either one of them, or American politics in general. I think our whole Government along with our judicial system is overly corrupt, dated, and in dire need of change. I don't trust the media or most of what I hear. Before I can truly believe anything, I like to hear several different opinions and then I try to form what I believe to be true from what I have gathered. But even then, I'm still unsure of the absolute truth. I think fairly scientifically. I like truth through proof. I like knowing the answer and I don't like much ambiguity usually. As "hippie" as it may sound, I long for world peace. I think all of the fighting and violence in the world is unnecessary and just ignorant. I try my best to live my life on an existence standpoint. What do I mean by that? Well, I try to form my personal values on how I think I, as a human being living with many other species and life forms, should live my life outside of any present or past Government or any other doctrining set of rules. This doesn't mean that I disagree with everything any past or present Government stands for, it just means I form my own opinion's and values. I believe that I am capable of making my own decision on what is right or wrong and don't like to be told otherwise. I don't believe in taking from any other group of people to profit another (such as America). I believe we, as humans, should stand together for the better as mankind as a whole. This brings me to my next point: religion.I disagree with most things that organized religions stand for. I understand that good and solidarity that religion can offer, but I don't agree with it. I think most religions are corrupt and full of contradictions. With this being said, however, I DO believe in God and consider myself a very spiritual person. I feel as if I am on a spiritual journey attempting and succeeding everyday in becoming closer to "God." I'm not exactly sure what I think God is, but I do believe that some higher or alter presence rather then myself blew the wind of life and set everything into motion, including mechanism's of change, such as evolution through natural selection. I was raised a Southern Baptist, but the more I deter from those forced set of beliefs, the happier and more amazing being alive becomes. Being alive is an amazing thing and anything that takes away from that feeling and attempts to make me feel like I should live in a constant state of fear of burning for an eternity in Hell just isn't my bag. If you really study evolution and UNDERSTAND it, not just think you understand it, creationism becomes all the more mind boggling! It's amazing how something set life into motion and lets it expand, change and grow indefinitely. So, if I had to classify my religion, I would say I'm borderline agnostic. I say borderline because I do have a large clue about what I believe in. I am just not completely sure yet and I am not sure if I ever will be. That's exactly what makes life so interesting and amazing to live because it's a constant journey. I am in no hurry for this life to end because I enjoy it! While the afterlife (or lackthereof) might be great as well, I refuse to just sit around and adapt the frame of mind that this life will be over soon and THEN I can start my good life. ANYONE can start their so called "good life" NOW. You just have to do it.As for my life right now: I'm a Sophomore in College, majoring in Environmental Science with a concentration in Earth Science. I plan on working towards conservation, pollution control, and earth studies. The Earth is an unbelievably beautiful place to exist and it would be really satisfying for me to do my part in protecting and conserving the beauty for my children and every other generation beyond mine to enjoy. I also chose this career because I understand that I can't handle a typical 9-5 desk job with all the politics and such. I need a career that is fulfilling for me and allows me to enjoy the wonders of nature. Perfect, right! Other then that, my passion's are hiking and music. I LOVE backpacking and do so as much as possible. I usually hike around the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and Pisgah National Forest. I have a tendency to get really stressed out and getting up in the woods and breathing in the fresh clean out revitalizes my body and soul. It's hard for me to describe but the feeling of peace I get from being in the backwoods is extremely euphoric. It's like my "escape" from lots of the crazy fucked up things that happen in our world today. And of course, I LOVE music. It's my other "escape" from a harsh reality. I enjoy both listening and playing music. I play the drums and bass mainly, but have been branching out to the classical and acoustic guitar, and even singing a little bit. I enjoy any and everything from Rock/jazz/funk/rap/bluegrass, ect. For a listing of specific bands and such, you can look to the left under the music section. I have played in several bands throughout the years, the main one being "Unscathed." Other bands I have played in include "Arizona Bay," "Timothy," and a few others. I have recordings of a lot of my musical work, so feel free to ask if you're interested in hearing any of it. If I'm sitting around my room or anywhere else, I like to have music playing. It's just me. As with most other things that I like, I like peaceful music, or music that gives off a peaceful positive vibe. I don't like music that dwells on death or misery (most the time, at least). Focusing on that junk is going to do nothing but make you feel worse and worse. Two of my favorite bands are definitely 311 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.Let's see, I think I'm running out of things to say here. As for now, I'm single. I kind of struggle with that whole aspect of life. I can be completely happy by myself but I still really enjoy, and sometimes even love, having someone to share things with. I know I have a lot to offer and am not going to let myself get in any compromising situations where friends are lost or hearts are broken. So, for the time being, I'm not actively searching for any kind of relationship, but if one happened to present itself before me, I would be willing to see what happens. But, I'm a pretty busy guy and girls tend to take my mind off of focusing on myself. To get all mushy, love and all that will find its own course. I'll just continue to live my life and see what happens. But, even the best of us get lonely sometimes, right? But ultimately, I'm looking forward to getting married and actually having a good marriage, having kids, a nice place to stay and all that jazz. And hopefully being happy at the same time. Only time will tell . .Anyway, if you actually took the time to read all of that, then you must be a friend of mine, so thanks for reading! So yeah, take it easy!!
