It all started when he graduated highschool in 1998. A major fan of Steve Nice and Micheal 5000 Watts of 97.9 (Houstons top radiostation at the time) he sought out to start a career as a dj. Inspired by Rapalot Records, dj Screw and the SUC, and the Swishahouse.....Mitchell Harkless at age 18 bout a $300 dj startup kit and began to practice.
Raised in the Magnolia projects of Brazoria County as well as the mean streets of Houston.............Dj Yellaboy has seen just about everything in these Tx streets. After a 4 year career (2002-2005) from working closely with Chalieboy and the Freestyle Kingz, Slimthug and the BosshoggOutlawz, George Lopez and D.S.R. as well as cofinding his own label called Street Pharmacy Records, he left the game. "I had accomplished all my goals as a dj, I got to work with all my favorite rappers, have my own radioshow, as well as my own business and really felt it was nothing left for me."
From Scarface all the way down to his own artist Synai he has worked with almost every major artist from Texas.
But away for over a year from the artform that he loves most "Chopping and Screwing" (where the cd is slowed down) he could never get away from the fact that he had accomplished so much. "Really i tried to run from the spotlight, but once I luckly turned it on...it wouldn't turn off."2006....
A smalltown country boy hounded by weird fan's questions everywhere about his star status, he decided to comeback and show the streets exactly what they want to see. "I really give all credit to my mother for pushing me back into the business, she always preached to me......Common Sense. I ran into Slimthug and Rayface in club Blue back in April...first thing out Ray mouth was we been looking for u.....so i then made a phone call and the interviews and the projects came back like H.O.V."
He has comeback with a new label with a new passion for the game.
Held as one of the top djs to ever chop and screw a cd, Dj Yellaboy has decided to put the lonestar state back in his sites. "I haven't really jammed a chopped and screwed project since 05, and not to be arrogant about anything, but I have skimmed through a few of projects lately and really I feel the game is missing something...I believe that something is me. My style is different."
