MY Bio* Christmas of 1959 was sad for us. My daddy passed away the day before Christmas.I felt like it was all a dream and I would wake up and it wouldn't be true. I was a daddy's girl. I remember crying myself to sleep many many nights longing to feel my daddy's arms around me telling me that everything was going to be alright. I just kept thinking he would come back. I was 9 and my brother was 10 years old. After that, my mother had to work a lot so we could survive. I remember her working 7 days a week most of the time. We had no baby sitter so we grew up fast. It is by the grace of God that we made it back then! Her job was only 3 miles away. She was the Clerk at Our Town Post Office. We were in school, except 3 months during the summer. She would come home for lunch everyday to make sure the house was still standing and we had our list of chores started. One time my brother tried to burn trash in the trash can in the kitchen! She just happened to be home that time. One time I climbed a ladder and made a loop & slip knot in two ropes hanging from a tree and put my legs in the loops. The slip knots tightened on my legs and I flipped up side down and the ladder fell. I started screaming and mama came running out to save me as I was turning blue! Mama just happened to be there getting ready for work and thank God she was still home. Once I jumped off the boat waist deep and landed on a maxwell house coffee can. Back then the rim was sharp like a razor. I looked at my foot and all my toes were bearly hanging on. I crawled and cried all the way up the hill leaving a trail of blood. Mother came out and she looked at it with shock, wrapped a sheet around it and took me to the hospital. They operated for 3 hours and told my Mom they did the best they could but made no promise on the results. I mean this was 45 years ago. I ended up with stiff toes with no feelings in most of my toes. I was on cruches for about 8 months I had to wear special shoes and I had to learn to walk on that foot again. I remember crying a lot because it was so painful. My Mother told me just keep trying and finally after a year I was walking again, although with a limp, but I was blessed to still be able to walk. Like I said before It was by the grace of God that we made it because we got into mischief quite a bit, however, we grew up dispite ourselves. My Mom passed away 15 years ago and left us the cottage that I was raised in. It sits next to a beautiful clear lake. I live here with my high school sweetheart of 41 years. Yes, we were high school sweethearts and married in our teens. With 25 cents in my soon to be husbands pocket and both our Mothers & my brother as best man we headed to Georgia to get married and of course we fibbed about our ages, but it's to late now to worry about that! :)After we were married we all had a hambugar at a little diner and my husband took his 25 cents and played the song 'Ask Me' by Elvis Presley on the juke box. That meant more to me than anything money could ever buy. Anyway, we were the talk of the town and were shamed because I was going to have his baby. Most people said it will NEVER LAST they are just kids! We were so young and crazy in love, but my Mother stood by us and helped us make a down-payment on a single 10 ft.wide MH with two small bedrooms and a old used car with a bank account she had saved for me for college. My husband had to leave school and eventually took the GED and received his High School Diploma. He played in a band at night and had 2 day jobs. He worked very hard. He was determined to take care of me. Soon we had a Son. There was no Government help back then and even if there had been we wanted to make it on our own. I learned how to stretch meals. We never ate out. I made some of the kids clothes, some were hand me downs from cousins. We planted a garden and some how he got some baby chicks and scraped up enough chicken wire to make a pen. I remember keeping the babychicks in the MH under a light because it was cold outside. Sometimes when I cleaned out the box they would get out and all 50 would run all over the place, under furniture and everywhere! Our living room smelled like a chicken house for a few months, but when the chickens finally grew up we had fresh eggs for many years. Many times I took the flashlite & went out to the chicken house @ 5:00 am to gather eggs for my husbands breakfast. My Mother would say; "now thats love"! We had to do without a lot of material things and we saved our pennies for only what was necessary for us to survive on. Almost 2 years later our daughter Tresa was born. I was 17. My husband was 19. Even though life was a struggle and we had our share of problems, we loved our children, spent time with them, and tried to do the best we could. The reason my husband had 3 jobs was so I could be there for our children. I would never change any of that. We may have been poor, but we never thought we were. Material things just did not matter back then. Loving each other and saying "I Love You" and spending Family time together was so much more important to us. I really believe that we become stronger though our trials of life. We were kids raising kids but we were determined to make it. People ask me how could you have been so young, raised a Family and survived the world out there. My answer is "The Lord", attending Church and staying in God's word. The Lord was there watching over us the whole time but we just didn't realize it until one day our marriage was falling apart, we lost communication with each other and our children were facing all kinds of peer presures in school. We had problems just like everyone else, and were facing a separation, but it is truely trusting in Gods Word and believing in Jesus Christ that got us on the right path. We have the blessing of eternal life with Jesus in a glorious Heaven! What more is there that brings true peace and assureance in this life? Trusting and Believing. It is so simple yet so powerful! As time went by and the kids grew up, we were able to both receive futher education and became successful business owners. After 21 years we sold my Florist business so now I am finally able to stay home and help with the grandkids and also help with our daughter's music career. My husband is a Sales Associate for Century 21 Realty for aprox 8 years now. He has won some of the top awards for sales in our area. He ran a TV Repair Business for 30 years and still installs antenna's and Satellites on the side, but does no more TV repair as the Real-Estate business keeps him extremely busy. I don't think he will ever retire! Our children are grown and we have been so blessed with 8 grandchildren here is a current update. Blessings to you all! Our daughter Tresa is a Country/Artist/Songwriter in Nashville TN. Her CD's are now for sale in Record stores. Some of the songs she writes about are her memories of living here at home in Fla when she was growing up. God blessed us with a wonderful daughter. We miss her terribly but we feel that the Lord has her where he wants her. We've kept the road hot to Nashville for many years! I hope you enjoy her music and videos. Her web sites are www.tresajordan.com & www.myspace.com/tresajordan. She has had 1 song recently charted @#41 on The Music Row Country Chart and the second one charted @ #45. Ain't No Grave is Charted on the rootsmusicreport.com Bluegrass Chart. Our son won the Fla State Motocross Championship when he was 14. He inlisted in the US Army after high school and was trained as a Calvery Scout. He recieved seven honors and drove for a General. He started playing drums when he was old enough to hold the drum sticks. He played in several bands. He now sells ski Boats and is a real-Estate Agent and raising his five and seven year old Children. We are here to help him out when we are needed. He is a great Dad. He spends a lot of time with his kids and takes them to school and to Church, plus he does the cooking and housework chores. He is an amazing son and a wonderful blessing to us to. One of our most celebrated holidays is the 4th of July. We grill brats and make homemade ice cream. Our older grandkids do the fireworks show. It is just spectacular! We have a boat and the kids love to go tubing, skiing and surfing. They all love to swing on a rope swing that is attached to a large oak tree. I myself love to take a relaxing ride in the pontoon boat that we just purchased after we sold my business. The whole family can fit on it! I love living here. I could never live anywhere else. Four generation have lived on this land. It is very special to me. It is my roots, my very beginning. I feel blessed and thankful to be living here and sharing good times with my family and friends.
