About Me

Here are some interesting things about me. If you and I were standing in a field of clover, I could probably find you a four-leaf one fairly quickly. If you and I were preparing for a birthday party, I unfortunately would not be able to blow up any balloons. I don't have a problem with bubble gum, but party balloons continue to elude me. This layout was handmade with love by the folks at My space or yours? Go get one!

My Interests

..I like theater, music, anything in the arts. I like visual art too, but I don't always understand it. I'm really trying to develop this whole visual art idea, and elevate myself from my trailer park roots. Being a natural bookworm, I tend towards indoor activities - I'm not a nature girl. I like the ocean, despite my hermit lifestyle. I'm also a little crafty. I specialize in small, fuzzy items vaguely resembling proper crochet.

I'd like to meet:

The person who would actually be with me both in a field of clover AND at a birthday party. One or the other would be nice, but who'd do both? THAT'S the person I'd like to meet. That or the man who names the paint colors.

Music:

..BROAD HINT: I'm having to replace a lot of music right now, because it got burned up in the fire. If anyone wants to help me out with that, let me know. Favorite artists: Jeff Buckley, Queen, The Cure, Ryan Adams (selectively), Josh Rouse, Iron and Wine, Amy Winehouse (yes I know, but come on! The girl won't go to rehab! It's awesome!), Rilo Kiley, Aimee Mann, Fiona Apple, Ella Fitzgerald, The Features, White Stripes, Poe, Fluid Ounces, Regina Spektor, Ben Folds (and the former Five). I have a closet love of Scissor Sisters, which is interesting since they're very much out of the closet.

Movies:

..The Princess Bride, Amelie, Ocean's 11 12 and 13, Garden State, Only You, The Matrix (yeah, I liked all three), Sneakers, Magnolia, Stranger Than Fiction, Closer, Flight of the Navigator, Girl Interrupted (also an excellent book), When Harry Met Sally, Mirrormask.

Television:

..Well, I have rabbit ears, which significantly limits my TV viewing. Personally, I think that's a good thing.

Books:

..This is more of an authors list for me, as I like the authors of several books. Virginia Woolf, Dorothy Parker, Emily Dickinson, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, John Irving, Eugene O'Neill, William Blake. John Grisham, James Patterson, Jasper Fforde and Micheal Crichton are guilty pleasures. Big fan of Tolkien - before the movies. I like John Le Carre, Dave Sedaris. Jose Saramago, who's kind of a mix between Garcia-Marquez and Faulkner. I need to stop reading the classics and start reading some authors that are actually still alive.

My Blog

Packing, post-fire style.

Tonight I'm taking a break from packing to write a little blog. Since I've been busy stage managing, I've put off moving chores until the absolute last minute. Until tonight, I had thre...

The nameless.

Before I start, two random comments: 1- A potato masher is an incredible kitchen implement. Much better than a tablespoon and some patience. 2- Fresh guacamole rocks.   Okay, on to other thing...

Cars I have known.

Does anybody else gaze with curiosity at their fellow drivers? I know I have a working interest in other people's driving habits...but I look at them because I'm nosey more than anything else. A coup...

The classy shorts.

This is not something that happened to me recently, but I wanted to share it anyway.   One day at work, nature called. Why is it that strange people constantly invade my bathroom space? Anyway, ...

Back but not in black and an unfortunate goldfish.

Hello! I know you've all missed me, so I have good news - I now have a computer AND an Internet connection! I'm now officially back to my computer geeky ways. That Vista 3d thing, by the way - very co...

Mmm, toasty.

So for those of you that haven't heard, my apartment burned down. Literally. If you go and look up my apartment complex on the news, you'll see a picture of a balcony with a blazing fire on the roof. ...

Retail no more- a memoir.

I'm sorry I've been completely disconnected for the last couple of months. Well, I'm kind of sorry, but also not. Anyway, I figured I'd post a blog at last. Now that I'm actually writing something, I'...

Something to say very quickly.

To all: I no longer have a viable Internet connection. This explains my long periods of absence - so please don't be offended. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford the Internet and come back to you al...

A misplaced holiday.

Yes, I have had an adventure - of the freakish, small town odd kind. This past weekend I went to my very first mile long yard sale. My goal was to get some furniture as cheaply as possible. The bare ...
