Filmed over six months in 2006, Mo| |erf| |ker: A Movie, is set to re-awaken dormant nightlife communities the world over and mark its place in the 21st century. Music video director David Casey and his crew have brought the legendary underground NYC club movement to light for the first time. The documentary follows the tale of four notorious party promoters ascent from no-name DJs to culture-clashing heroes - and describes their party's importance in modern New York City.
Michael T, Justine D, Johnny T and Georgie Seville spent the last six years shaping a glam rock n' roll party that has not existed since the days of Warhol and Studio 54. In recent years, no other event has been able to successfully unite the downtown community in the name of celebration of the underground.
As much as the film is reverent to the city it documents, it is critical of this and all party's place in modern culture. In order to truly distance his film crew from tampering with the party's aesthetic, Casey used a variety of nontraditional techniques on the set. Most notably are the camera operators' use of filming through two-way mirrors and mounted cameras high above the crowd. He also insisted on operators listening to waltzes on headphones while filming. The film’s typeface, along with the styling of the documentary was created in a unique way to represent new imagery to the word, Mo| |erf| |ker: A Movie. Through a combination of HD party footage and interviews with over 150 top music industry personalities, this film is a culmination of immediacy that both respects its subject and questions it.
