About Me

I love Jesus, and my family, and laughter, and music and silence. I love my friends, and light, and writing, and movies and big dogs. I love beauty, and reading, and life, and kids and ice cream. I really truly believe that if young people around the world encounter God and see that He is who He says He is, then they will stand up and change the world. And there really are alligators in my pond.

My Interests

Laughing. Smiling in general. Dancing. Making Abbie laugh (you have no idea -- i found out in England). Wearing a Superman cape in the office. Singing along with the oldies station with the sunroof open and people staring. Going crazy in my own way. Loving on purpose. Being over generous. Crying from too much happiness. Getting Justin to talk passionately in defense of the significance of GI Joes. Being caught outside in an East Coast warm cloudburst of rain (not to be confused with the horrible "cold" kind of rain). Turkey Hill ice cream. Making Ryder say something is "precious." Waters on a starry night. Sunshine in general. Feeding Ahns soap on bagels. Taking in so much beauty that I'm not hungry anymore. Finding out who God is and what love looks like. And then loving like that :)

I'd like to meet:

People who change the world. They're a little bit crazy, and crazy people are fun to be with.

Music:

Ian McIntosh
Brian and Jenn Johnson
Mew
Muse
Mute Math
Pilot Speed
Eisley
U2
The Listening
Ratatat
Joy Electric
Radiohead
and anything oldies of course...who doesn't love oldies?

Movies:

Anything that moves me or makes me think or makes me laugh out loud. Meet the Robinsons (!!!), The Oceans movies, Braveheart, the Star Wars movies, Minority Report, DeJaVu, Gladiator (William Nicholson is the man), Man on Fire...I'm pretty sure I could quote to you the entire Lion King movie, and the dances Ian and Ali and I made up to go with it were a sight to behold (particularly with the lights off, since we were covered in glo-in-the-dark paint)...

Television:

I don't have time for TV, but I was a big fan of Saturday morning cartoons back in the day...

Books:

The Goose Girl
Enna Burning
(way to go Shannon Hale)
The Chronicles of Narnia
The Wind Singer
Slaves of the Mastery
Firesong
(William Nicholson IS the man)
Seeker, Jango and Noman (3 separate books)
The Torch and the Sword
Emily's Quest
Rose in Bloom
A Little Princess
Developing the Leader Within You
Hiddenness and Manifestation
Towards a Powerful Inner Life
The Silmarillion
A Wrinkle In Time
7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Crafted Prayer
Beholding and Becoming
Living in Dependency and Wonder
(Graham Cooke is awesome!)
A Swiftly Tilting Planet
Many Waters
The Blue Sword
The Book of Three
The High King
Other Prydain Chronicles
A Call To War
the William Branham series (you know which ones)
The Secret Garden
The Way of the Heart
Phantastes
Let the Trumpet Sound
AND looking back through the list, I see that almost all the fiction are children's books...oh well!

Heroes:

MLK Jr, Bill Johnson, my Mom, John G Lake, Rebekah (yes, the one in the Bible), Lou Engle, Kathryn Khulman, Maria Woodworth-Etter, William Nicholson, Heidi and Roland Baker...
