abandondrugs (formerly apostropied abandon'd rugs as a big lebowski refernce) is Stephen Paul, multi-instru-mentalist from London, who can mainly be found in and out of various educational institutions while knocking up tunes on his computer, albeit very slowly. Started playing piano with Grandma who was a concert pianist at 4 yo but never did enough practise to get past the first page of bohemian rhapsody at 15. at 18 captivated by radiohead my first glastonbury and having recently got a guitar i got into writing music on guitar about lost love and confessional miserablisms, and states of consciousness and always hope. but then came reason. and i'm talking the music software program. before i had a chance to get anywhere with a four track and amateur recordings with guitar and an out of tune voice (which was perfectly heavenly once) it became all too clear that dance music was the way to go. and the rest, you can hear for yourself. Ironically all the songs that will be on myspace for now are collaborations, cos that usually speeds up the process for me, and the more people you put into the mix the more you'll come out spinning. peace out

Influences: all about lily chou-chou......... please if you only watch one more film in your entire life, and you are a music obsessed message board addicted cyber-geek, this is exactly the dystopia myspace evolved from. WATCH all about lily chou chou. what really is an influence? i dont feel like anyone's really influenced me directly. everything you listen to moulds into your mind and you process and regurgitate in a spontaneous creative way, so ideally i'd say radiohead were my greatest influence but they sound nothing like me for the most part. regina spektor definitely influenced the regina spektor remix but you could have figured that out. all i can really say is that 90% of what i listen to sounds nothing like what i have recorded cos i mainly listen to obscure-ish, alternative rock, psych, folk, americana, 60s, indie, and prog, which hasnt yet, but will, have a bearing on where i am going..........
Sounds Like: four tet, mum, lemon jelly, ulrich schnauss, dj shadow, massive attack, air, mike oldfield, jean-michel jarre (so the oldies tell me, don't let that put you off), new radiohead without thom yorke's vocals, infected mushroom, shpongle, the album leaf, the books, tortoise, schneider tm, fridge, fog, fennesz, faultline, dntel, caribou, boards of canada, amon tobin, underworld, leftfield a guy called gerald, khonnor, squarepusher, aphex twin, plaid, brian eno, astral projection, chemical brothers, the orb, orbital, savath and savalas, royksopp, rjd2, nightmares on wax, moby, mice parade, m83, laurent garnier, kruder and dorfmeister .......hidden away in one of the songs is a bit of guitar that sounds like mogwai.
Record Label: a future without (records)
Type of Label: Indie
