Reclusion was formed in August 1998 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The members have their past in various more or less known Swedish metalbands and have in one point or another been bandmembers before.
In May ´99 they entered "Los Angered Recording" to record the debut demo entitled "A force of one". The demo was recorded together with Andy la Rocque of King Diamond/Death as the producer and engineer.
After a time of negotiations and comparing artist agreements, Reclusion decided September ´99 to sign for Loud ´n Proud Records. A vinyl single was released on their sub label Underground loudness. The full length album "Shell of Pain" was recorded during February-March 2000, again in the famous Los Angered Recording (produced by Andy la Rocque) and was planned to be released in May 2000. Due to unfortunate circumstances, the album never was released by Loud n´ Proud Records and Reclusion decided to look for another label that could give them the support they needed to achieve their goals and ambitions.
Reclusion signed then with French Listenable Records. A decision was made that the album needed more aggressive sound, so a remix session was scheduled. Together with Risza, live engineer for Hardcore Superstars and producer/engineer for Psycore, they gave the necessary boost to the album. The making of "Shell of Pain" finally ended in July 2001 and the album was released in October 2001. In August 2003 the band decided together with Listenable records that Shell of pain would be the only album released by that label.
Since the release, Reclusion had the opportunity tour France, Belgium, Germany, Holland and Denmark. Banging their heads together with the European grind monsters: Aborted and Pyaemia but also with Swedish bands like The Haunted and Evergrey. Reclusion was the only extreme metal act on Sweden Rock Festival 2002, sharing the bill with Bruce Dickinson, Motorhead, Halford and Saxon among others.
Due to the fact that the band was not currently signed to a label, producers Andy la Rocque and Risza decided to invest their time and knowledge in the band and record the new album. In February 2003 the Reclusion started the recording of their second album Inventory of the morgue. The sessions ended during the later half of 2003 and Inventory of the morgue has been completed.
