About Me

Background Artist:
Melody Hay Frankly, Brilltown is an excellent band. It is my band. My name is Tristan "Covert Op" Grotvedt, and I sing and write our songs, when I am not working for The Man or studying philosophy. Brilltown is not only my band, but at least two other people's band also. We have the formidable engineering student, Nathan "Cross the Threshold of Shred" Clinen on lead guitar, and the controversial bass sensation from Hong Kong, Luke "Swiss Watch" Dirckze. We are based on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia, where the sun is shiny and the milk of life is chilled to drink-fridge perfection.
Brilltown formed under the name of "The Brill" in 2003 in our senior years of high school, out of the ashes of the ridiculous Spend The Woodblock Quartet, who broke up due to creative exhaustion after their instrumental magnum opus, "Militant Were The Skylarks (Box Communication Box)". Chiefly responsible for the inception of the new group were Nathan "Smack That" Clinen and myself, Tristan "the Enigmatron" Grotvedt. The rest, as they say, is history, friends.
Since then, the lucky ones who have heard us have been enthralled by the direct yet ambiguous impressionistic lyrics and charmed by the overflow of melodies - or, at least, this was the reaction of those who did not think we were pissweak. But that's a lot of good reactions. I know of at least nine.
We like to make lots of copies of our recordings on CD-Rs and give them to people. You can do this as well, should you so wish. We are currently planning a properly manufactured EP. Also coming soon is Tristan's myspace, where you will be delighted with four extra songs.

If you have comments or questions, a gig for us, or if you are a musician interested in collaborating (we are STILL on the lookout for drummers especially), email Tristan at trissos [at] hotmail.com, or Direz at luketheforce76 [at] yahoo.com.
Direz's brother, Jason Dirckze, is the man behind all our best recordings. He played the drums on the tracks WKE, IWIK and Diamonds, and is a consummate gentlemen as well as an audio whiz. If you'd like to ask Jason questions about our recordings / his equipment, you can drop him a line at jasondirckze [at] hotmail.com
