Turned on to DJing and producing at the early age of thirteen, Mass found himself an aspiring artist ever since the year of 1988. Inspired by DJs such as Jazzy Jeff and Cash Money, DJ Mass started building his skills and improved quickly. In 1992 he teamed up with rapper LaQuatal to become a part of Two Outta Millions. The twosome established a strong reputation mainly because of their solid shows, which were done with DJ Mass really using the turntables as a live instrument. The year 1994 saw Two Outta Millions first release on the Dutch Hiphop compilation BlockBuster, for which they contributed 4 songs. During this period the group started performing on a regular basis and could be seen as a support for acts like Gang Starr, Jeru the Damaja, GraveDiggaz, Usher, Good Girls and Silk. In 1995 the duo released the EP For You n Yours which did well in both Europe and Japan.Next to being the crews DJ/Producer, Mass built a reputation as a well known party DJ spinning at shows from artists including Naughty by Nature, A Tribe Called Quest and the Pharcyde. Further he was often seen as a DJ for the legendary B-Boy Extravaganza at the Paradiso venue in Amsterdam. He also became a regular guest DJ for the populair nationwide Radio Show The Dutch Masters. After having started his own production/ record company named Mass Appeal Recordings DJ Mass released a single with Creamy! and had Two Outta Millions featured on the This is what U wantHiphop compilation album. Through his company he released tracks on the TV compilations Rap van Tongand the Real R&B part 1 and 2. In 1998 he was chosen to do the official European Remix for the Big Daddy Kane single Hold It Down. In this year he also launched a new project on CMC/SoulRelation called Select Personnel. The first Select Personnel release ( I Doubt That Youre Ready) has been praised by critics throughout Europe in magazines like the Hip Hop Connection (UK) and Update Magazine (Holland). The record even made its way onto an Stretch Armstrong & Bobbito Mixtape, which was sold worldwide by Fat Beats. The follow-up (Dutch Superstars) was even more successful. It got airplay on various radioshows and turned up on numerous mixtapes all around the globe. In 2001 DJ Mass teamed up with frequent collaborator Rescue (Select Personnel & Boomoperators) and last but not least Royal Flush for a new release on Groove attack. Royal Flush is known for his hit single World Wide (which was an answer record to the DoggPounds New York, New York ) and his album Ghetto Millionaire which featured well known producers and mcs like Buckwild, DJ Hi-Tek and N.O.R.E.Around this time DJ Mass started looking for a Dutch rapper to take the Netherlands by storm. He found just that with Raymzter while judging an MC Battle. This hook up proved golden as in 2002 their first Virgin release Kut Marokkanen??! reached nr. 3 on the Dutch Pop Charts. In 2003 Mass DJ-ed at numerous events all over the country as support for the Raymzter tour. Mass is also a resident DJ together with J-Flava at the monthly Hiphop/ R&B party The Joint at the DoornRoosje venue. The Joint started in 2000 and is still going strong. DJ Mass also teamed up with DJ Ivoryman to start Bootyclap, a monthly event covering every genre in black music all in one mix. Bootyclap started out at the Ekko and Tivoli in Utrecht, but has now also found its home at the Bitterzoet in Amsterdam. Mass also released a new single with rapper LaQuatal, Clark Wallabee (Wat doe je dan?) The single did very well in the Dutch Top 40 charts.Mass went on an Asia Wu-tang Killabees tour and dj-ed in numerous clubs in Malaisia and Indonesia. Together with Raymzter he also traveled to Sierra Leone and made a song and video about the countrys history with Child Soldiers for Plan Nederland. In 2005 Mass produced most songs on Raymzters Rayacties album and released the album on his own label. That year also 2 videos were released form the Rayacties Album which is regarded a classic by many. He went on to dj shows and afterpartys for such acts as KRS-ONE, Methodman, Redman but also artists as Roachford, Jaguar Wright and Matisyahu making him an all-round dj not scared to mix diffrent styles in one big party blend.
