Life is Good!

About Me

Originally from California I moved to the Northwest 10+ years ago. When I got to Washington it immediately felt like home. I love the laid back Northwest lifestyle, the amazing people I've met at school, work and mutual friends, the political climate (read: Liberal) and of course my Starbucks Coffee. While attending the University of Washington I met my husband who is not only a total hottie, but also a really good person. We have been together for over 8 years and will celebtrate our 3rd wedding anniversary in July. This past November we had a beautiful baby girl that we named after my Mother and my Husband's Grandmother. She is precious and has changed us both in so many wonderful ways. We also have two mischevious dogs who keep us busy. One is a yellow lab-Oliver and the other an English Pointer-Sophie. I am fiercely dedicated to the public school system and have taught in the public schools for the past 5 years. I am currently working on my Doctorate in Educational Leadership and hope to eventually go into policy making.

My Interests

Raising our daughter. Cooking, walking our dogs, yoga, interior decorating, gardening, reading, eating out at restaurants (Seattle has fantastic restaurants!!!!), traveling, dancing, but most importantly spending time with family and friends.

I'd like to meet:

I'm looking to keep in touch with friends who I've lost touch with over the years, as well as family who live out of state.

Music:

I like music of all different genres. I was fortunate to grow up with an amazing brother who raised me on The Cure, Howard Jones, Depeche Mode, Motley Crue, Poison (+ many more) and so I have a soft spot for these bands.I really enjoy 90's alternative music which is probably now considered easy listening/elevator music. Anything by Alice in Chains, Jane's Addiction, NIN, Dave Matthews, and all of the other great artists that were big in the mid to late 90's (the college years).I also love the rap music I grew up on so anything that was big in the early 90's-Ice Cube, Black Sheep, TLC, Run DMC (okay that's 80's), and some of the one hit wonders like Paperboy.Currently I'm really into Death Cab for Cutie, Beck, Gwen Stefani and the rare country song.

Movies:

I just like to be entertained and so I'm probably not as picky as I should be. I always love romance movies-The Notebook or The Family Man are always good.I love documentaries and would highly recommend The Corporation. My hubbie LOVES action movies and so I have gotten into the Mission Impossible movies and enjoy those as well.We usually love any movie with Cate Blanchett.

Television:

What About Bryan (I LOVE this show!) 24 Medium American Idol Arrested Development (it didn't last past a couple of seasons, but it is a great show). Criminal Minds

Books:

I can't choose just one. My favorite childhood book was The Little Engine That Could and that's always remained a favorite. Every student in my class has heard this book at least 3-4 times. I also love My Sister's Keeper and am currently reading Team of Rivals which is an excellent book.

Heroes:

My Mom. What can I say, she's an amazing woman? My Husband-he's an amazing partner and father.
