You miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky - NHL legend

About Me

I'm a single parent of 2 boys. I have a good sense of humor. I stay busy, but I figure if you work hard you can also play hard. I am simple yet complex, so you should ask me some questions and I'll try hard to answer them.

There is nothing I like better than throwing my boys in the car and going somewhere fun.

My Interests

My Jeep, My Dogs, Amateur Radio, Astronauts, Scuba, Hiking, Canoeing, Bicycling, and using my Chain Saw. I've grown to like hockey watching my boys skate so much. I regret I knew nothing of the sport when Gretzky was in his prime.

I'd like to meet:

I want to meet a woman with acute angina. (I've been looking for a way to weave that into some sort of sentence). But seriously folks: I like down to earth normal people that are motivated. I understand that respect isn't a freebie, but earned - and good friends share mutual respect. I've got a great core group of old reliable friends that I appreciate, but I'd always be open to having a few more, although its more about quality than quantity.

THIS SONG GETS STUCK IN YOUR HEAD. WHERE CAN I FIND A MINI MALL?

Music:

Zevon, Dylan, Ramones Flexy the pocket monkey. Johnny Cash was scary cool.

Movies:

Summer of '42, Little Big Man, Saving Private Ryan, Apollo 13, Beach Blanket Bingo, Slingblade, To Kill a Mockingbird,Hight School Confidential,Plan 9 from Outer Space.

Books:

I like reading about the ETO in WWII, and books about the history of manned spaceflight. I read Vanity Fair and the New Yorker.

Heroes:

Bob Dylan, Alan Shepard, Neil Armstrong, Gus Grissom, Gene Cernan, The astronauts of Apollo 1, Challenger, and Columbia who lost their lives, Both my parents, my brothers, Wayne Gretzky and Jennifer O'Neil. Those soldiers that fought and died for their country. In places like Valley Forge, Shiloh, Antietem, Gettysburg, Normandy, Bastogne, The Aredennes, Ia Drang, Saigon, Cambodia, Burma, Okinawa, Iwo Jima, Quadacanal, Inchon, Bataan, Somalia, Iraq. Once these soldiers left their homes, they gave the ulitmate sacrifice and never returned.

My Gall Bladder Flashback

I've had a bunch of friends and coworkers have their gall bladders go south on them. I had it happen to me, so I am now an expert on the gall bladder.  I will share with you what I learned about ...

My Dogs Are Stupid

I haven't written anything in a while. Guess I haven't had any earth shattering thoughts in months.  Well I had one this morning. I realized that my dogs are dumb.  Some mornings when I feed...

The Dark Side of the Moon

I was inspired to write this by watching a show on VH1 Classic last night.  They have a series going telling the inside stories of the making of Classic Albums.  Last night they showed ...

A Strange Homecoming

The following article is reposted (without permission). I don't know all the rules on copyright laws on the internet, but I figure that if I credit the guy who wrote it, I'm ok.  It's an old arti...

Richard Poncher gets the eternal laugh.

I'm not writing this to condem nor condone Richard Poncher's actions.  And it is hearsay evidence as to whether he pulled this off. In fact HE doesn't even know if it happened or not.  &nbs...

Extremists and Manifestos

I've always been enchanted by the word "Manifesto".  Webster defines a manifesto as: a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer. Hey, that sounds like ...

Blogging

I haven't blogged in a while. I really don't have a lot of blog to spill, so I'll babble with some random chatter, and keep it brief. I'm meeting some interesting people on myspace. I've had a couple ...

Almost stepped in gum

I am a strong believer in a natural order of the universe. Hardly anything is random, even though sometimes it appears that way.  An observation I've made - as you ride along the highway, in your...

My Challenger Memory

I had just begun my job at the Kennedy Space Center. I moved to Cocoa Beach in December.  I had seen one other shuttle launch prior to Challenger.  I was longing to get as close to the launc...

Reset my counter

More people are looking at this spot in my space than I would have ever figured. Is it that shirt in the picture?  Ha, I hate that shirt. Looks like I'm off to a barn dance. And I had a migraine ...
